Chapter 44 - Eyes like Pearls

Skin isn't surprised cause Jess didn't understand what she meant. It is a part of it. But most shocking thing of all is seeing such a young Chosen right in front of her.

She has never encountered anyone so young. It almost makes her uncomfortable.

She was even younger than her when she was plunged into the darkness of violence and death. However, even she reached hell she was almost eighteen. She had killed far too much in such a small amount of time.

So, seeing a Chosen who is young gives her chills. It also reminds her of her parent's baby too. But this time that reminder doesn't really break her. Instead, it just fuels the fire of her desire to meet Man-man.

If she has to kill this little kid. She would kill this little girl without a second thought. Her love for Man-man is far greater than her humanity.

As she thinks of that, another voice comes form the darkness.

"Please don't get close to her. She is dangerous."

Skin looks at the other Chosen. It is a pure black skinned man who looks far strong of an opponent than this little girl. A fight with him would be much more entertaining for Skin.

This man is none other than Mor. The man who is responsible for capturing Skin for hell. However, Skin is unaware of that fact for now.

Jess observes Skin with curiosity and caution. It is easy to see that Skin will try to break her restraints. These chains are heavy and tough. Also, the mechanism around the neck is obviously capable of destroying the neck of the wear. A Chosen would be cautious.

However, that cautious would only be taken by a guideless chosen. It is hard to believe that anyone else would do that same.

Not to mention, there is an 'unknown' with Skin. Jess is unaware of her blessing. A blessing is a weapon that is far too dangerous. It is also clear that this Chosen won't stay put even if her life is at danger.

Jess crouches down and makes a request as she stares at her with unblinking eyes.

"Please don't break your Chains, Miss Skin."

Skin stares into Jess eyes and then rolls her eyes.

"Like I would listen to-"

However, something strange happens. She couldn't able to make herself break the chain. It is like that very notion is being subconsciously stopped by her own body.

Skin grinds her teeth and stares at her with angry and hate. She will tear her limbs apart.

"Please calm down, I just want to help you. You can trust me. I can get you out of here. You just have to answer me few questions, okay?"

Skin will never trust a Guideless Chosen. She already despises their way of living and how they exist. They pretend to be righteous heroes of humanity that will lead them to a better place. But in reality, they just want to be guided by something like a purpose. A purpose that is hollow as their own inner notion of heroism.

Skin despises anything that isn't genuine. It doesn't matter if it is love or violence. Just do it with every bit of your heart.

Jess continues. Ignoring Skin's hateful filled stare.

"…So please tell me. What happened to the king's crown?"

Skin barks.

"I don't know shit about what you are talking about, bitch."

Jess fails to understand few words. That is cause to her own limited knowledge. But she still understands that Skin doesn't know anything about the King's crown.

Jess's blessing can force humans to do thinks that she asks for. Either by her words or just through looking into her eyes. Her power is limited by her own inability and inexperience. But she can fully command an ordinary human and give few commands to a Chosen.

That is how she stopped Skin from breaking her chains or trying to perform anything that will let her escape from her restraints. She can't fully stop a Chosen or control them. There are limitations to her blessing.

She can't just tell a Chosen to kill themselves. They will resist and easily break through it. But if she says 'don't move' then they will stay in place for more than few minutes or hours or even days. It all depends on Chosen themselves and other particulars. Like how much they have stared in her eyes and how susceptible they're to her blessing.

So, it is little useless in combat as nobody would stare into her eyes if they know the danger. Even if her eyes so alluring and beautiful. But it is quite useful for investigation as nobody can lie to her. She can just command them not to lie.

However, Skin's answer is troublesome. Her answering with an "I don't know" means few things. Either she really doesn't know anything about the king's crown or She has somehow forgotten about it.

There is also blessings that can counter her own blessing. That is also a factor to it. A blessing that can make her immune to Jess's blessing. That would be troublesome if that is the case with Skin.

What blessing does she have? That can be easily answered.

"Another question then, what is your blessing?"

Skin answers quickly.

"Self-love, I love myself much more than you can ever do. My love will keep me alive even if I get hurt."

Jess assume that her blessing is related to healing in some way. So, her not answering her first question is just the reason of her not knowing.

Or Skin has forgotten about it. Or maybe she is just not aware of what is the king's crown itself. That is a difficult position for Jess. If Skin doesn't know then she can't answer.

So, she should ask something that is certain.

"So, now tell me why-"

Jess eyes widen with surprise. Skin grinds her teeth and with angry bubbling form her mouth. She bites her own tongue off.

Skin's thinking is simple. If Jess can force her to answer her question and do what she wants. Then she will just cut off her own tongue to not answer whatever she asks.

She will defy all that dares to be in her way. If Skin was being force to walk without her will. Then she will break her own limbs to defy the power. It doesn't matter if it is a God or this little girl.

Jess's surprise disappears in few seconds. She actually should've expected someone with the power of self-heal to harm themselves. It is her own over sight. But she also thinks that even if there was no self-heal. Skin would've harm herself regardless.

Jess thinks for few second as she closes her eyes to not look at the blood and viscera. This interrogation isn't going to way she hoped. She needs to know what happened to the king's crown.

According to Mor, Skin is the only Chosen who he found in the king's chamber. He searched the whole place. But he didn't find the frozen blessing.

She is her only lead and she needs her. So, she open her eyes then turns around and look the other way. Leaving Skin looking at her back. Then she speaks.

"My blessing makes me able to force humans to do certain thing when they look into my eyes. That is why you can't break your chain and why you answered my questions truthfully…Now you know about my blessing too."

Skin listens to her with disdain and violence in her mind. Just the thought of being controlled makes her want to bite her eyes off. Then she will chew on it so she can spit it back into Jess's empty sockets.

Her mouth is full of her own blood. But she wants to taste Jess's instead.

Mor watches Skin with caution. He can feel her bloodlust. It is also familiar to him. He knows that she is violent and dangerous.

Jess continues.

"I am letting you know this because we had a wrong start. Let's start from the beginning. I am Jessica, a Guideless Chosen and this man besides me is Mor, another Guideless Chosen. He was the one who found you unconscious in the king's chamber and brought you here. You are currently in the seasick reason. It has been a mouth or so."

Skin kept quiet. But she does target her bloodlust on Mor too. He doesn't mind being the target of her violent rage. However, he would've preferred not to be. It is quite daunting.

"Now on to what I want to ask of you. I don't want much. Just answers for three of my questions. If you would help me then I will help you in return. You will be able to walk free from here safe and in one piece."

Jess pauses for a second and asks.

"So, help me because I don't want you to die."
