**On the First Rank — Resonance**

*Before the practitioner can speak the language of the physical world, they must first accept that they have been mishearing it their entire lives.*

*At the First Rank, nothing moves. Nothing changes. The practitioner learns only to listen — to feel the faint vibration that all matter carries, the trembling at the edge of awareness that most people spend their lives learning not to notice. Stone has a frequency. Water has a frequency. Bone, wood, iron, air — each carries its own resonance, its own particular way of existing in the world.*

*The practitioner at this rank cannot manipulate. They can only perceive. This is not a limitation. This is the foundation. A practitioner who skips this stage — who finds a method to bypass it, who believes listening is merely preparation for speaking — will build everything that follows on ground that cannot hold it.*

*The cost of the First Rank is the surrender of certainty in one's own perception. Not a performance of humility. A genuine, irreversible acceptance that the world is larger than what the ordinary senses report. This cannot be faked. The Anmæren knows the difference.*

**On the Second Rank — Utterance**

*The practitioner learns to speak.*

*Simple words at first. Stillness. Movement. Weight. Lightness. The physical world responds to these commands the way a conversation responds to a question — not always as expected, not always completely, but genuinely, with the give-and-take of two things in dialogue rather than the compliance of one thing controlled by another.*

*A thrown blade can be redirected. A falling structure can be briefly held. A door sealed by ordinary means can be opened. The effects are small. They are exhausting. The soul's surface layer — the layer the practitioner has not yet learned to see past — is the fuel, and it does not replenish quickly in the early stages.*

*The cost of the Second Rank is the surrender of a conviction. Something genuinely believed, proven wrong through lived experience. Not a belief the practitioner was already loosening. Something they held. The soul cannot speak a new language while insisting the old one was sufficient.*

**On the Third Rank — Sentence**

*The practitioner learns to construct meaning from words.*

*At the Third Rank, commands become complex. Multiple objects simultaneously. Sustained effects over time. The practitioner begins to work at the boundary of organic matter — the body, the blood, the bone. Not to harm, necessarily, though harm is possible. To understand. The physical world at this rank is not a collection of objects to be moved but a text to be read, and the practitioner who reaches this depth begins to feel, for the first time, that they are reading rather than guessing.*

*Most practitioners who carry the knowledge stop here. The Third Rank is sufficient for most purposes. It is deep enough to be dangerous, subtle enough to be invisible, and close enough to the surface that the practitioner retains the comfortable illusion of being entirely themselves.*

*The cost of the Third Rank is the surrender of an identity. Not a belief — a role. Who the practitioner understood themselves to be must be shed entirely, replaced by something truer and less comfortable. The soul cannot deepen while the practitioner is still performing a version of themselves for an audience that no longer exists.*

**On the Fourth Rank — Verse**

*Here the practitioner touches the second layer of the soul for the first time.*

*Everything changes at the Fourth Rank. The language of the physical world becomes not merely readable but malleable in ways the first three ranks do not prepare the practitioner for. Matter can be reshaped — not moved, not redirected, but fundamentally altered in its nature. The boundary between what a thing is and what it could be becomes negotiable.*

*We do not describe the full capabilities of this rank in a document that may be read by those who have not earned the preparation. What we will say is this: the practitioner at the Fourth Rank is no longer working with the surface of the world. They are working with its grammar. And grammar, mishandled, does not merely produce errors.*

*It produces meaning the author did not intend.*

*The cost of the Fourth Rank is the genuine confrontation with one's own non-existence. Not the fear of death — fear is a surface-layer response, and the surface layer is no longer where the practitioner lives. The confrontation must be internal, philosophical, and total. The practitioner must sit with the reality of their own absence long enough to be permanently altered by it. This cannot be rushed. It cannot be induced. It arrives when it arrives, and the practitioner must be present for it without flinching.*

*We will not elaborate on the Third Truth here. It is not a truth that can be transmitted through text. It is a truth that must be arrived at — and the arriving changes the practitioner in ways that cannot be undone and should not be attempted by those who are not prepared to be changed entirely.*

*What we will say is this: the practitioner at the Fifth Rank works no longer only on the physical world. The boundary between the material and the immaterial — between the body and the mind, between the object and its meaning — dissolves. The practitioner at this rank is not a person using a system. They are a place where the system and the person have become difficult to distinguish.*

*The cost of the Fifth Rank is not recorded here. What we know of it comes from accounts that are difficult to verify and harder to read. We leave this entry incomplete not from negligence but from honesty.*
