"Don't accuse me carelessly, Elsa," William snapped.
"You're the one who failed as a mother, and now you're blaming me?"
Angelica crossed her arms and smirked.
"He's right," Angelica said coldly.
"You couldn't even protect the baby in your own womb, El. If you were a capable mother, maybe your child wouldn't have died."
Elisabeth stared at them both, her heart shattering even more.
For a moment, she said nothing.
Then she slowly stood up.
Her hand reached for the suitcase beside the bed and pulled it toward her.
"Fine," Elisabeth said quietly.
"Then let's get divorced."
She looked at William with empty eyes.
"You can marry Angelica… since she's clearly much better at taking care of your child."
William's expression darkened.
"Where do you think you're going?" he demanded.
"You're just a housewife. If you divorce me, you won't be able to do anything."
He scoffed.
"Don't forget, all this time I've been the one supporting you. Without me, you're nothing."
Elisabeth stopped walking.
Slowly, she turned around and faced him again.
A faint, cold smile appeared on her lips.
"Why?" she asked calmly.
"Are you afraid if I divorce you… people will find out the truth?"
William frowned.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Elisabeth took a step closer.
"That the honorable Mr. William Marcelino," she said slowly,
"is actually an unfaithful husband."
Her eyes burned with quiet fury.
"And not only that… but the man whose actions caused the death of his own child."
William's jaw tightened.
Elisabeth's voice became sharper.
"Tell me, William… what will happen to your career when people know the truth?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"Will your reputation survive… or will everything you built collapse overnight?"
"Are you threatening me?" William growled as he grabbed Elisabeth's wrist tightly.
"Let go of me!" Elisabeth struggled, trying to pull her hand away.
William's grip tightened.
"I said let go!" Elisabeth shouted.
She pushed him with all her strength.
William stumbled backward and lost his balance, crashing into Angelica who was standing behind him.
Both of them fell to the floor.
"Ah—ouch! That hurts!" Angelica cried out, wincing in pain.
"William… help me up… it hurts!"
William quickly helped Angelica sit up.
"Are you okay?" he asked anxiously.
Angelica held her arm and frowned.
"I think I twisted my arm," she groaned.
William turned toward Elisabeth with an angry glare.
"You've become really violent," he said coldly.
"I was wrong about you, Elisabeth."
Elisabeth let out a bitter laugh.
"Yes, you were wrong," she said calmly.
"You should have married Angelica from the beginning… not me."
Without waiting for another word, she pulled her suitcase and walked toward the door.
William said nothing.
Angelica only watched with a cold smile.
Elisabeth stepped out of the house.
In front of the gate, a taxi was already waiting.
The driver quickly got out and took her suitcase.
"Let me put this in the trunk, ma'am," the driver said politely.
He placed the suitcase inside.
Elisabeth got into the back seat of the taxi.
She looked back at the house she had lived in for two years with William.
Her eyes filled with pain.
This house… the place I lived with William for two years… turned out to be nothing but a living hell.
If only I had listened to Mom and Dad back then… if only I hadn't married him… maybe I wouldn't be suffering like this.
"Let's go, sir," Elisabeth said quietly.
The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
"Where to, ma'am?"
Elisabeth held her chest as she felt the dampness on her clothes again.
Her blouse was already wet.
Her breast milk had started leaking again.
Even though she had pumped a lot of milk and donated it, it still flowed heavily.
"To the hospital… please," Elisabeth said softly.
The taxi stopped in front of the hospital lobby.
Elisabeth opened the door slowly and turned to the driver.
"Sir, could you wait for a while? I need to see a doctor inside," Elisabeth said politely.
The driver nodded.
"Of course, ma'am. I'll wait in the parking area," he replied.
"You can call me when you're done."
"Thank you," Elisabeth said softly.
She stepped out of the taxi and walked into the hospital.
At the registration desk, a nurse greeted her.
"Good morning, ma'am. Which specialist would you like to see?" the nurse asked kindly.
"A gynecologist, please," Elisabeth answered.
The nurse began typing on the computer.
"May I know what your complaint is, ma'am?"
Elisabeth hesitated for a moment before answering.
"My breast milk… it keeps flowing heavily," she said quietly.
"But my baby died two days ago during childbirth."
The nurse looked at her with sympathy.
"I'm very sorry for your loss, ma'am," she said gently.
"Please go to the second floor. Dr. Darren is currently on duty there."
Elisabeth froze for a second.
"Darren…" she murmured softly.
That name sounds familiar… or maybe it's just a coincidence, she thought.
"Thank you," Elisabeth said politely. "Excuse me."
She walked toward the elevator and pressed the button for the second floor.
A few moments later, she arrived at the obstetrics clinic.
A nurse called her name.
"Mrs. Elisabeth Aurelie?"
Elisabeth stepped forward.
"Yes, that's me."
"Let's check your blood pressure first," the nurse said while guiding her to a chair.
After finishing the examination, the nurse smiled.
"Alright, ma'am. You can go inside now. The doctor is waiting."
Elisabeth nodded and walked toward the consultation room.
She took a deep breath before opening the door.
"Good morning, Mrs. Elisabeth. Please come in and have a seat," the doctor said warmly.
"I didn't expect we would meet again."
Elisabeth froze the moment she saw his face.
Her eyes widened in shock.
"So… it's you," she said quietly.
The man in the white coat smiled faintly.
"I didn't expect it either," he said calmly.
"That my patient today would turn out to be my own ex."
