Chapter 12 - Day 2: Three-Way Deadlock- 1

Of course, things really wouldn't be so simple.

Samarie ducked low, the shot just barely grazing her shoulder.

It had been on her way to the main junction that she met several city folk that just weren't taking her abrupt entrance very well.

Bang! Bang!

Naturally, when she came beating the cops' heads in, she'd also thought she looked like a lunatic.

Bang! Bang!

But there came a point when the police were exercising their right for a proper brutality, that things were at least justifiable.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Samarie tucked herself into a nearby alleyway, breath drawing tight as she steadied herself.

Would it kill them to at least say "Hi"?

It really grated on Samarie's nerves that they didn't even have the decency to give her a proper welcome before blasting her brains in.

They were all just like that stupid clown!

Once she caught her breath, Samarie waved both her hands out of the alley.

"Wait-"

Bang! Bang!

Both of her hands were nailed!

A searing pain tore through her palms, like magma pouring over her wounds.

Fuck it, plan B it was.

She slipped out of there like a bat out of sulfur pits, Kagune launching her from the wall at immense speed.

In the blink of an eye, she zoomed towards the closest rifleman. Samarie twisted her body as her Rinkaku tore through the man, using his body as a shield.

Panicked, the other shooter tried to fire, but was stopped when his bullets only found purchase in his friend, and not the squish target standing right behind it.

"Out of ammo yet?" Samarie asked, throwing the dead fool at the feet of his friend. "Because I think I need a reload."

With a sweep, her longer Bikaku tore through the man at the waist. Joining his brother in arms soon after.

Though, in their mutated, scorched states….

Yeah, Samarie doubted they would find each other in The Deciever's asshole.

Glancing back towards her hands, Samarie found the holes had stopped bleeding.

Apparently, it had been packaged with the Rinkaku. A lower form of healing like with a spell, but with none of the mental drawbacks.

However, it did make her very hungry, on the other hand.

So perhaps her stunt wasn't so great after all.

The growls of the beast in her belly grew more insistent, as time passed.

And Samarie started getting that look in her eye that meant nobody in the sixty meter radius would get between her and a plate of food.

However, she wouldn't go so low as to feast on the corpses.

She had class.

Even when it mattered very little…

"Focus, Samarie, Focus." She reminded herself, ignoring the hunger, even when it felt like she was dying.

"At least clear the path before Marina gets here…."

Because a few steps from her position, layed the main junction.

She wasn't far from the church, it was just across the street.

She could see the cathedrals' room from her current position!

And yet, it had felt like hours since she last met with Pocketcat.

Putting her mind off on better things, Samarie crossed the short walk into the main junction.

Only for the mark at the back of her next to gush like there was no tomorrow.

It was a soothing pain, one which grounded her senses.

Cautiously, she trekked with eyes at the back of her head.

It would be for the best if she wasn't caught with her pants down.

Entering the wide street, she immediately heard the clacking of boots against the brick road.

Samarie turned towards the sound, her eyes widening at the sight, as her body immediately tried to hide itself.

She didn't know how it escaped her mental probbing.

But standing several meters away, a distance so small, it might as well have not existed between the two of them, was the King in Yellow and his entourage.

The Kaisar had come to play. And standing right next to him, was a presence that was far darker than even the Pocketcat who she had just encountered.

It had the same general appearance as a human.

Although, the way it walked was paradoxically similar and yet so different to that of a human's.

In fact, it was much like the Kaiser, in a way.

Except where the Kaiser was like a quiet gust in the wind.

That… Entity was more akin to torrential tempest.

Energy parted around it, as though the world rejected its existence.

Aberration.

"You see those two?"

The Kaiser's words were like a guillotine. Each syllable pricking at the skin around her neck.

"Spill their blood. It shall nourish the one who yet sleeps."

His words carried through the air with a certain finality.

Like the whims of Fate were at his beck and call. Perhaps he was just another man playing at God?

And apparently, one who was powerful enough to enact his cruel delusions on the rest of the world.

"You will be done, my Lord," The aberration bowed, unsheathing a crisp sword at her hip.

One that shone with a golden hilt, and a gleaming crimson blade.

It sang as it made its entrance, like it was owed blood for the privilage of being used.

"I am D'arce, Blade of Legard!" It announced, for all the world to hear. "And ever since that day, I have never known defeat."

It pointed its sword towards the middle of the street. "You are worthy to know my name, now die!"

A black blur streaked across space, the fluttering of D'arce's long garb the only sign she moved.

Standing on top of a split car, it formed a prayer sign on one hand, and flourished its blade in the other, running the blade across its arm.

The sword drank D'arce's inky ichor like wine, a domineering glow enveloping the weapon.

Seeing as she had been spotted, there was no point in hiding.

Striding towards the general, all three of her appendages sprouted from her back, Samarie bowing in courtesy. "Samarie, Blade of Marina, it's a pleasure to see one as devoted to someone, as I."

A smile crossed her black stained lips. While a snap changing her outfit from her white shirt and black blouse, into the one she wore when she was Lenora. "Let's hope you are puffing yourself with hot air, okay-"

The ground cratered opposite to her, a smokescreen veiling its appearance behind debris.

The pair glanced towards the sudden presence. One that also wasn't human.

However, this creature… didn't appear to be one of those who walked the night under the guise of humanity.

But a being whose features were closer to the Gods' personal creations.

A head adorned with the skull mask of a dear of some kind, skin as pale as the moon, and fur of the same color.

But the most striking of its features was the fact that it towered over both Samarie and D'arce. And in its hands, were a pair of spears that were easily Samarie's own height.

"Mataneko-kone-Magnificat, Mighty Spear of the noble Sergal Race!" The creature announced, drool leaking from the edges of its mask, as the creature swept its spear. "But FUCK THAT! Let's stab each other down to the very last drop of blood!"

Tuesday- 11:55 AM, the threeway deadlock officially began.
