Bernard's POV
Flickering candlelight danced across Penny's living room walls, creating pockets of warmth that pushed back against the bitter December cold pressing against the windows. We had claimed the entire couch as our own, steaming mugs of hot chocolate cradled in our hands while another formulaic Christmas romance played out on the television screen.
The male lead was now racing through what looked like every terminal in the airport, desperately searching for the woman who had supposedly captured his heart in the span of fourteen days. The orchestral music swelled dramatically as he rounded each corner.
Penny nearly spit out her hot chocolate, laughing at the absurdity of it all.
"Do you ever wonder how these movie couples manage to fall head over heels so quickly?" I murmured, drawing her closer until she melted against my side. "Fourteen days together and suddenly they're willing to uproot their entire lives for each other."
