Bernard's POV
This was really happening. We were actually doing this.
The thought crashed through my mind as I gripped my phone, her voice still echoing in my ears. The way she had whispered my app name, Roamer, sent electricity shooting down my spine. When she said that name, I felt transformed. Not Bernard Dixon, the corporate executive who had been forced to fire her. Not the COO trapped in company politics and power plays.
With Penny, as Roamer, I could strip away all the complications. I could simply be a man who wanted a woman with desperate intensity. The freedom was intoxicating and absolutely terrifying.
"Maybe I should continue," I managed to say, my voice rougher than intended. "I'm already starting. What about you? What are you doing right now?"
Her response came as a shaky exhale, loaded with anticipation.
"Maybe I'm already touching myself," she breathed, and the uneven rhythm of her breathing made the air in my room feel electric.
