Maya's POV
Consciousness returned gradually, bringing with it a sweet ache that reminded me of every moment from the night before. Sebastian lay beside me, his arm claiming my waist with a possessive weight, his face peaceful in sleep in a way that daylight rarely allowed.
I found myself memorizing his sleeping features - those impossibly long lashes, the sharp edge of his jawline, the mouth that had explored every curve of my body just hours ago. How could anyone look this devastatingly handsome while unconscious? It hardly seemed fair.
My silent observation must have disturbed him because those piercing gray-blue eyes opened slowly, immediately finding mine with laser focus.
"Morning," he said, his voice gravelly from sleep.
"Morning," I whispered back, suddenly feeling bashful despite everything we had shared in the darkness.
His mouth curved upward as he drew me against him.
"Did you rest?"
"Eventually, when you stopped keeping me awake? Yes."
