Maya's POV
The world came back to me gradually, consciousness seeping through the fog as hospital room light filtered through my heavy eyelids. Every muscle in my body felt weighted down, exhausted, though the stabbing pain that had torn through me earlier had finally subsided.
Penny perched in the bedside chair, balancing a tablet that displayed Sebastian's face. His features were drawn tight with anxiety, those familiar eyes dark with concern that made my chest ache.
"The private jet is already taxiing," he said, his words rushed and urgent through the speakers. "I should be landing in Ohalhaven within hours."
My throat felt raw when I spoke, but I managed to keep my tone steady and soothing. "You really don't need to fly out here. The baby's okay now, and so am I. It was horrible while it was happening, but we're both safe."
