Maya's POV
Days had passed since we discovered the truth about Bianca and Julian's vehicle, and I was still trying to wrap my mind around everything we had learned. Sebastian spent most of his morning talking to Dominic on the phone, planning their next moves in the investigation. Meanwhile, I attempted to maintain whatever normalcy remained in our lives.
Standing in the doorway, I observed him pacing the room and noticed how much his condition had improved. The rigid way he had moved after the crash was nearly gone. The dark marks on his face had lightened to barely visible traces, and that calm strength I worried we might lose forever had returned.
After he finished his conversation, I positioned myself against the doorframe, attempting to mask my nervousness with a playful grin.
"Now that you're obviously healthy enough to go sneaking around vehicles during investigations," I said, folding my arms, "I was wondering if you'd join me for a different type of appointment today."
