Life in the city was not easy.
The shared room was tiny. Expenses were high. Sometimes he skipped small comforts to save money. He searched for jobs during the day and helped Amit with small delivery work in the evening.
Many offices rejected him again.
"Graduation required."
"Experience needed."
The old words returned.
But this time, Raju was different. Rejection did not break him as before. It motivated him.
He improved his resume. He applied for data entry jobs, office assistant roles, and customer support positions. He practiced spoken English every night.
Weeks passed.
Then one afternoon, he received a call.
"Can you come for an interview tomorrow?"
His heart beat fast.
The interview was for a small private company needing a data entry operator. The manager asked basic computer questions. Raju answered confidently.
A few days later, the message came:
"You are selected."
It was not a high salary. It was not a dream job. But it was a stable office position in the city.
Raju closed his eyes and smiled.
From a silent village boy with a folded certificate in a drawer to a working professional in a city office — the journey had not been easy.
But it had begun.
