Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : Surrounded by Thugs

It had been exactly a week since Damien became a police officer. He then headed to the hospital where Burneo was being treated. For a week, he had not seen Yuki. Damien felt ashamed remembering the incident at the hospital, where his mind had not been working properly. How could he have let his guard down and revealed his feelings for Yuki regarding work matters? Damien wanted to bang his head against the wall when he thought about it.

When he opened the door, Damien was surprised to see the woman he wanted to avoid sitting in a chair staring at Burneo. Yes, it was Yuki.

"Hello, Mr. Damien," said Yuki with a sweet smile. "Wow, you came early in the morning to visit your father. Are you okay? I was worried because you didn't even reply to my message."

Damien scratched his head, which suddenly felt itchy. "Sorry, I ran out of credit. You know I rarely use my cell phone." The last excuse was an alibi because Damien really wanted to avoid communicating with Yuki.

"I see, it's okay. As long as you're healthy, that's enough for me."

Damien then cleared his throat for a moment. He had just wanted to replace the flowers in the vase, but now he realized that the flowers had already been replaced.

"I replaced them with lavender flowers," said Yuki with a friendly smile.

"I see. Well then, these are for you." Damien gave the bucket of roses to Yuki.

Yuki looked surprised, but she then accepted it and said, "Wow, the flowers are beautiful and still fresh, thank you."

Damien nodded in response.

"Oh yes, I've finished the file containing evidence of XX Group's tax evasion, and several other files that I'm sure you'll need, Mr. Damien. But as you know, XX Groups is no match for you. They are working with the central government and officials to try to avoid punishment. You need more concrete evidence to bring this case to court. After all, your father's company suffered huge losses, and they have powerful backers."

Damien accepted the flash drive. "Okay, thank you, Yuki. In that case, can you continue to look after my father?"

"Yes, Mr. Damien. I will continue to look after your father."

"All right, I'll be going now," said Damien as he took his leave. Yuki nodded in understanding.

Damien, the owner of the body, had never met the leader of XX Groups directly. But Damien also did not stop trying to find out who was behind the destruction of his father's company. It could be said that Damien's technological abilities had undergone significant changes.

Burneo's GW Groups company worked in the field of chip manufacturing technology. Burneo's company was destroyed due to a data breach, which damaged the AGW-NCL12 chip operating system. This caused the company to lose all its investors and suffer huge losses. His father's company's main enemy was XX Groups, which was also a chip manufacturing technology company. XX Groups tried to replicate the AGW-NCL12 chip, but it was not easy for them to do so because the security and operating systems were made using advanced technology that could not be replaced by any other technology. ....

Damien then started his motorcycle. At the end of the road, he saw a journalist who had interviewed him the other day. Seeing this made Damien angry, and he quickly passed the journalist before his face could be captured on camera.

Arriving at the police station where he worked, Damien immediately got off and parked his motorcycle. He then entered the building and headed to his desk.

After closing the door, Damien turned on the computer and inserted the flash drive Yuki had given him. On the screen were several files with names such as the list of governments cooperating with XX Groups, evidence of tax evasion, and XX Groups' efforts to stop the distribution of AGW-NCL12 chips to various countries.

Damien sighed heavily and tried to think hard. Unfortunately, the evidence of tax evasion was not strong enough because several insurance companies were involved.

A message suddenly popped up on Damien's cell phone. He then read the message containing information about the whereabouts of the leader of XX Groups, Joseph Giggs, on a small island.

Damien put his cell phone on the table. Suddenly, a black man entered the room and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey, bro. Long time no see. Are you happy to see me working again? Tell me, are you thinking about the perpetrator of the accident?"

Damien glanced at the name tag on the man's uniform, which read Ryuuma. Damien then said,

"I'm fine with your absence. But as you can see, I'm a police officer and I should know who the perpetrator is, but unfortunately, the answer is no. I found no clues whatsoever other than that the accident was purely due to the kid's carelessness."

Damien and Burneo's previous accident was caused by an underage kid who was driving recklessly and crashed into the car Damien was riding in. Damien may have thought that it had something to do with Joseph Giggs' plan, but there was no strong evidence to support that. Instead, the boy who crashed into him died.

"I see. Then you have to accompany me on duty. We have to patrol."

....

Damien stopped his motorcycle at the company where Yuki worked. He stood on his motorcycle for quite a while, until Yuki came out of the building shortly after. Upon seeing Damien, Yuki waved her hand and smiled sweetly at him. Damien immediately turned his gaze to the road.

"Mr. Damien! Ah, finally. I'm glad you didn't mind picking me up."

Damien then gave Yuki a helmet. "Yes, it's no trouble." Yuki accepted the helmet and put it on. Since she was wearing a skirt, Damien immediately took his shirt and gave it to her.

"Do you want to know something bad?" said Damien as he started his motorcycle.

"How could I want to know something bad from you, Mr. Damien? You can tell me anytime," said Yuki, covering her thighs.

Damien sighed heavily and suddenly his nose felt stuffy. "You're right, maybe next time. How about we go to a ramen shop for lunch?" asked Damien. He began to think that Yuki was the only woman who was different from other women, having no emotions and liking to wear a mask on her face. Her face smiled sweetly, but her mouth could beat the spiciness of her favorite ramen broth.

"Okay, as long as you don't throw up on someone else's motorcycle again, because if you do, you'll end up as a punching bag for the crowd," replied Yuki with a friendly smile.

"Sorry, that won't happen again. Hopefully the motorcycle owner isn't angry with me," Damien replied. Yuki remained silent, instead tightening her embrace around Damien's waist as he sped through the city streets.

....

Without Damien and Yuki realizing it, someone was watching their intimacy. The person clenched his fists. He didn't like seeing Yuki riding with Damien. So, the man decided to follow Damien's motorcycle from behind.

All this time, he had been trying to win Yuki's heart, but Damien had easily gotten close to her. Jim Carrey would not let that happen. He would quickly finish Damien off for daring to approach the woman he liked. Together with some of his friends, Jim then stopped at a ramen shop.

....

When the order arrived, Yuki looked enthusiastic as she said, "Enjoy your meal, Mr. Damien!" Yuki exclaimed, then ate the ramen heartily.

Damien also ate heartily, even deciding to order two more bowls. It seemed like he hadn't found food this delicious in years on the continent of Tyrandra.

"Mr. Damien, how about you tell me the bad news?" said Yuki.

Suddenly, a group of people entered the shop. Damien, who saw them, immediately stopped eating. Instantly, the shop seemed crowded. The reason was that people knew that they were a group of troubled people, one of whom had even committed murder. They looked scary.

Jim Carrey sat in front of Yuki. He rested one hand on Yuki's chair and stared at Damien with hatred.

"Do you know us, Mr. Damien?"

"No. And we have no business with you," replied Damien, looking calmly at Jim.

Jim snorted contemptuously. "Yuki, would you like to go home with me? You know I want to tell you something," said the man.

For the first time, Damien saw Yuki's angry expression. "No! I don't want to go home with you," Yuki replied curtly. "You have to stop bothering me. Or you'll get what's coming to you."

Jim looked at Yuki with pity for her attitude. He grabbed Yuki's hand roughly. Yuki struggled to free herself.

"Who are you? Let go of her," Damien said, trying to control his emotions.

"I'm the son of the company Yuki works for. Why? Do you have a problem with that?" Jim raised an eyebrow. Their gazes locked.

Jim then stood up and bowed his head, his hands gripping both sides of the table.

"If you dare, face me." After saying that, Jim left the room, followed by the cheers of his friends who were waiting for Damien outside the room.

Damien stood up angrily. How dare that man act so insolently in front of him! But Yuki immediately held his hand.

"Mr. Damien, don't do it. They're dangerous," Yuki pleaded.

Damien looked down at Yuki's hand and then said, "It's okay, Yuki, let me deal with it."

Damien then left the bar and saw a number of Jim's friends standing with him. They were carrying baseball bats and some of them had knives.

Suddenly, a man appeared and shouted at Damien. "You!!"

Damien and everyone else there immediately turned to look at the man. Damien tried to remember the man's face. And then he realized something: this was the man he had hit. And Damien had the man's belongings.

It looked like Damien would have a hard time dealing with all of them.

"Hey, kid. Join us. Let's smash his ugly face," said one of Jim's friends.

The man wearing a hood smiled crookedly, then said to Damien, "I'm not going to talk much to you. Because let me guess? You must have destroyed it, right? Get ready!!"
