Chapter 17 - Chapter 98 Yu Xiaogang Steals the Corpse

Sure enough, the black-robed man withdrew his gaze as soon as Luo Ling finished speaking.

"Friend, since you've already killed the person, why not help kill these two as well?" Luo Ling continued nonchalantly, a smile on his face.

The black-robed man was stunned. How many years had it been since anyone had spoken to him like that?

Ever since Ah Yin was sacrificed, he had been hiding in Holy Soul Village with Tang San, spending his days in despair.

Looking at Luo Ling, Tang Hao felt something was strange; those bright red pupils seemed to possess some kind of magic.

Tang Hao hesitated for a moment, but finally casually unleashed a burst of soul power, directly crushing Bu Le and Old Goose to death.

Seeing this, Luo Ling almost couldn't help but laugh.

He hadn't expected Tang Hao to actually listen to him and take action; this was completely unlike the Haotian Douluo's style.

Moreover, Luo Ling was the one who had taken the Blue Silver Emperor Seed and the Blue Silver Emperor Soul Bone.

On the surface, feigning gratitude, Luo Ling smiled at Tang Hao.

Tang Hao nodded, then vanished without a trace, leaving only the terrified Shrek Academy members behind.

They exchanged bewildered glances, and finally Oscar stepped forward, saying,

  "Brother Ling, we..."

  Oscar hesitated, biting his lip.

"Take Dai Mubai's body back. He's dead; we still have to tell the Dean," Luo Ling said calmly.

No one objected. Oscar stepped forward, his face pale as he saw Dai Mubai's mangled body.

Luo Ling thoughtfully took out a large sack from his soul tool—the one he'd given to Yu Xiaogang to put the body in.

Oscar took the sack, his face showing gratitude, and carefully placed Dai Mubai's body inside.

Ma Hongjun carried Tang San, and the group walked out of the alley one after the other.

  ...

Back at Shrek Academy, Oscar and Ma Hongjun looked grave.

Dai Mubai and they were among Shrek's earliest students; who could have imagined such an end?

Zhu Zhuqing showed no sign of grief; in fact, she felt a sense of relief at her fiancé's death.

Arriving at Flander's residence, it was Oscar who knocked on the door.

The door opened, and Flander frowned at the crowd blocking the entrance. His expression changed drastically when he saw the sack Oscar was carrying and the pervasive smell of blood.

  …

"You mean Mu Bai conspired with outside soul masters to kill Luo Ling and Tang San, and even tried to forcibly seize Tang San's external soul bone?" Flander could hardly believe his ears.

Yu Xiaogang, lying on the bed, panicked upon hearing this and quickly asked, "How is Tang San?"

"Tang San only suffered minor injuries. Dai Mubai was killed by a black-robed man who suddenly appeared before he could even make a move," Oscar replied through gritted teeth.

  "A black-robed man?"

Flander and Yu Xiaogang exchanged a glance, quickly understanding who Oscar was referring to.

It could only be Tang Hao, who was secretly protecting Tang San.

"Do you know who that man in black robes was? Did he say anything?" Flander asked again.

Oscar shook his head. "No, the man in black robes didn't reveal his face, nor did he speak."

Flander remained silent for a long time after hearing this, finally sighing.

Dai Mubai had brought this upon himself; since Tang Hao had personally killed him, he couldn't possibly avenge Dai Mubai.

Moreover, Dai Mubai had attacked Tang San first.

He glanced at the sack still seeping blood and shook his head. "Alright, we know what happened, so you don't need to worry about it anymore."

"I regret Mubai's death. His attempt to kill Tang San to seize the soul bone was his own fault. You should all go back now." Flander waved his hand.

Hearing this, the Shrek Seven Devils didn't say anything more, bid farewell to Flander, and left.

Only after everyone had left did Flander sigh, "I never imagined Mu Bai would try to kill Xiao San to steal his soul bone."

"I think he's terrified of the Star Luo Empire's throne competition, so he wants to seize an external soul bone. He's weak and spends all his time indulging in women, so he can only resort to such crooked methods!"

Yu Xiaogang reprimanded him bluntly, his tone full of sarcasm.

Flander didn't reply, shaking his head helplessly before walking towards the sack containing Dai Mu Bai's body.

"What do you plan to do with this body?" Yu Xiaogang suddenly asked.

Flander turned around, thought for a moment, and said, "I plan to bury Mu Bai in the back mountain. After all, Mu Bai was a student of the academy and should be properly buried."

Yu Xiaogang didn't say anything more.

Flander had no more desire to stay in the residence, grabbed the sack from the ground, and left the room.

Watching Flander's departing figure, Yu Xiaogang's eyes flickered slightly.

He touched his soul tool, his gaze shifting to the burlap sack in Flander's hand, his expression turning serious.

  ...

Late at night, moonlight scattered across the overgrown grave mound.

The back mountain of Shrek Academy was the burial ground for many villagers who had died.

Now, a new grave mound stood there, the soil indicating it had been recently laid.

From the shadows of nearby bushes, a dark figure slowly emerged.

After looking around to make sure no one was watching, the figure picked up a shovel and began digging at the newly laid grave.

The moonlight illuminated the figure, revealing his face—it was Yu Xiaogang.

Yu Xiaogang dug with all his might, and soon, a headless corpse was unearthed.

Seeing the corpse at his feet, Yu Xiaogang felt no disgust; instead, a look of joy appeared on his face.

He quickly pulled out a burlap sack, covered the corpse, and then directly placed it into his soul tool.

Then he filled the dug-up grave mound back up, restoring everything to its original state.

After doing all this, Yu Xiaogang cautiously glanced around before disappearing from the back mountain like a whirlwind.

He was completely unaware that a black crow was silently watching him from a nearby branch.

  ...

In the boys' dormitory, Luo Ling gazed at the full moon outside the window, a wicked smile playing on his lips.

When he brought back Dai Mubai's body, he had guessed that Yu Xiaogang might use it for a blood demon ritual.

Now it seemed his guess was correct!

After experiencing the power of the blood demon ritual once, Yu Xiaogang was addicted. "

I could have endured the darkness if I had never seen the light."

  This statement was very apt.

Without the power of the blood demon ritual, Yu Xiaogang's cultivation talent had become inferior again; how could he endure it?

Luo Ling watched Yu Xiaogang's departing figure through the crow's eyes.

The first of the Nine Trials of the Evil God: to exact revenge on Yu Xiaogang.

This trial was simple; revenge could take many forms—killing the opponent, or tearing them to pieces—but Luo Ling didn't want physical pain.

What he wanted was mental torture, to face death in despair and agony.
