Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Cleaners

Jay-Jay's POV:

They all went inside after finishing the food that was SUPPOSED to be mine, leaving only me and Felix outside. Oh, and Keifer was here too, but he was standing far away.

"They're gone..... you can take out your food now. " Felix said.

I did as he said and took out the Nova. But before I could even open it, Felix snatched it from me. What the heck?! Is he a snatcher or something?

"Hey! What's your problem?!"

"Sorry... this is my favorite!" Felix said as he walked away, already eating it.

Now I was alone. No one was left to take my food.

I took out the Cheappy. But just as I was about to tear the "Tear Here" part, someone snatched it from my hand again.

Aaarrrgggghhhhh... What's wrong with these people?!

I glared at the animal who took my food.

Keifer?!

"What's your deal?! Don't you know how to ask?! If you're so hungry, why don't you buy your own food?!"

He glared back at me. "We can't buy food...." He said almost in a whisper.

"What?!"

He ignored me and just walked into the room while eating my chips. So annoying!

I put the table and chair back where I found them. I also fixed myself up.

When I entered the room, it looked like a flood of paper balls had taken over. The floor was completely covered, and with every step I took, I couldn't help but kick or step on them.

They didn't even bother to clean up. Unbelievable!

I sat down in my seat, right in the middle of the U-shaped arrangment. I was literally the dot in the middle.

The room was way too quiet, and I had a bad feeling about it. I turned around to look at them.

Thankfully, there was no miracle behind me. Felix and Keifer were just eating the chips that I BOUGHT!

THE NERVE!

They were savoring every bite of MY food. What's weird is that my classmates were staring at them like they were starving.

Their eyes were glued to what the two were eating.

Don't they get fed?

Even I couldn't help but stare at them eating. Those jerks were making it look so delicious with their exaggerated expressions.

So annoying!!

I turned back to face the front. I was getting more and more irritated by what they were doing. That was MY food! It was supposed to be MINE!

Finally, the bell rang, and our teacher arrived. Given the state of our room, I expected her to get mad, but she didn't seem to care about the mess she was stepping on.

"Your room really suits you," the teacher said boredly.

She was about to start teaching when she noticed me. "Why is there a girl here?"

"I-I'm the transferee....." I answered.

"Ahh.... Jasper Jean Mariano?"

I smiled. "Yes, ma'am."

She gave me an "ah" reaction before turning back to her book. Like the previous teachers, she also gave me copies of the lessons I had missed.

While I was writing down the lecture, the teacher approached me. Her name was Mrs. Zaragosa, and she was in her mid-50s. Of course, she looked her age, but she didn't seem strict.

"If you had the choice, which section would you want to be in?" She asked me.

I looked at her, confused. "Ma'am?"

"You don't belong here. You're the only girl."

Waaahhhh.... So that's why. I thought the others were just absent.

"Are you serious? The register told me I was placed here because of my records."

I suddenly felt the room go quiet. It was as if everyone was listening to our conversation.

"That's not a problem. Alvin and I will work on transferring you. The girl before you was already moved to Section B."

"I'll think about it....." was all I could say.

Honestly, a big part of me was against transferring. It felt like I didn't deserve it, but I could feel their concern. After all, I'm the only girl here.

I'm the only beautiful rose in this place.

Mrs. Zaragosa's class ended, along with the others that followed. We were now on our last subject for the day.

"I don't want to teach!" The teacher shouted angrily.

My classmates went wild with excitement, like a pack of rabid dogs. Wow! I just bowed my head, shocked by their behavior.

"Clean your room..... I-I have meeting to attend."

What's that about? She has a meeting, but she's pretending she's doesn't want to teach. Or maybe she had the choice not to go, but she's just too lazy to teach us, like she said.

"If I come back and this classroom is still a mess... I'll teach! None of you will escape, or I'll kick each one of you!" She added before leaving.

Her name was Ms. Cindy Smith. She was in her mid-20s and looked really cool.

As soon as she left, I was shocked when the whole class suddenly stood up. I thought they were going to clean, but instead, they all walked out.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" I shouted. I tried to follow them, but they suddenly closed the door behind them.

Oh no! Oh no!

"Open this door!" I shouted, banging on the door.

I saw Keifer peek through the window, so I quickly went over there.

"Hey! What's your problem this time?!"

"Clean the room...." he said boredly.

Excuse me!

"No way! Why should I! You're the one who made this mess!"

"Tss. You're the reason we made the mess. Now you clean it!"

"What if I don't?!"

"Then we won't open the door, even if Ma'am comes back."

I heard my classmates talking.

"Just clean it!"

"Hurry up!"

"This is tiring!"

Excuse me! The nerve of these people!

"You're so annoying! After eating all the food I bought, you're making me clean?!"

"Tss. Don't throw that in our faces. Why did you even bring food?"

Oh, come on!! "You're all jerks!!"

I heard them laughing. These animals are really trying to get on my nerves!

"Just clean the room. If we get bored, we'll just go home. Ma'am might not even find you here. We have the keys."

Holy crap!!

"Ugh!!! YOU'RE ALL THE WORST!! I shouted.

These pests! So shameless and greedy!

What else could I do? I had to clean this darn room.

I stood with my arms crossed, looking around. It was just a regular classroom, except for the pile of plywood, sheets of metal, and cardboard at the back. There was also a cabinet, and it looked like the brooms were stored there.

I walked over and opened it. It seemed like the cabinet hadn't been opened in ten years. Dust flew out, and I almost choked on it.

"What the heck?!"

I looked for the brooms and dustoan, which looked like they were relics from the school's ancestors because of how old they were. I was lucky to find a roll of garbage bags.

Honestly, the ceiling was covered in cobwebs, and the windows were extremely dusty. But I only planned to clean the floor.

What do they think? Did they get a maid or something? They're so lucky. They couldn't asked the school facilitator to clean this. Why didn't they?

I quickly swept the floor. I stuffed all the trash into the garbage bag. While swepping, I accidentally bumped into the pile of cardboard stacked near Keifer's seat.

Oh no! The cardboard fell to the floor. Thick dust flew into the air, and I saw.... a rice cooker?

I moved the cardboard to get a better look. The rice cooker was still in its box and looked brand new. That's when I noticed it was sitting on shoe shelves----like lockers but without doors.

Each box or space had a name. I saw Keifer's name.

"Mark Keifer Watson."

I looked at the others. I also saw Felix's name.

"John Felix Collins."

But something else caught my attention more than anything. Next to Keifer's name was a heart sticker on the driver, and beside Keifer's space was another space with a girl's name.

"Ella Dianne Hyun."

Is this the girl Ma'am mentioned earlier, the one who was transferred to another section?

I heard them banging on the door, askin if I was done.

"Not yet!!" I shouted at them.

I put the stacked boxes back and leaned them against the wa. I decided to peek at the other stuff too---the ones covered by the sheets of metal and plywood.

Thay had an electric frying pan, the kind used in Korea. They also had a water dispenser and small pots. A kitchen?

Speaking of the kitchen, thay even had a small sink. They have so much random stuff. No wonder some of them look so scruffy. Hehe.

I finished cleaning and banged loudly on the door.

"I'm done!!"

The door immediately opened, and the shameless ones came in, but Keifer stopped in front of me.

"Where's the cleaning you did?"

I cleaned up your mess!" I said, pointing to the floor.

He looked around and immediately frowned. "You didn't clean the cobwebs!"

"What! Do you think you hired a maid? I'm not cleaning that!"

His brows furrowed in annoyance. "Stop shouting at me!"

"I want to shout at you!"

"One more word, and I'll shut your mouth!"

"One more word, and I'll shut your mouth." I mimicked him, puffing out my lips and narrowing my eyes.

I was surprised when someone suddenly laughed. The whole class was watching us.

"Hahaha..... You look like husband and wife," Felix said, and the whole class erupted in laughter.

I looked at Keifer with disgust. He had the same reaction toward me.

Husband and wife? Already? I don't think I could ever be married to someone like Keifer.
