Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Aha Really Has No Face

Seeing his 2D waifu made Liu Xing excited for a good while, but immediately after, he slumped into the starlight like a salted fish.

He was currently a soul and couldn't even touch Firefly. It wasn't that he wanted to do anything while she was asleep; he just wanted to touch the 'white moonlight' of his heart, the 2D waifu of his fantasies.

But unfortunately, there was nothing he could do.

Looking at the various images flashing past outside the starlight, Liu Xing was certain he was no longer in his original World. What a joke—did his World have a Firefly?

"Starlight, oh starlight, where exactly are you taking us?"

Liu Xing propped up his chin and murmured. He didn't know what this starlight was; it wasn't under his control, and he didn't know if this was his 'golden finger' cheat.

He had tried to communicate with the starlight, but it didn't respond at all. It simply carried him along at a wild pace, never stopping for a moment.

The only exception was pulling Firefly into the starlight as well, which confirmed to him that this wasn't his exclusive golden finger.

Just as Liu Xing was lost in thought, the two words 'Building Walls' echoed through his mind and jolted him awake. He looked outside the starlight and discovered an endless, boundaryless Celestial Comet Wall appearing ahead.

A headless colossus composed entirely of rock and amber, holding a giant hammer, was building the wall. Liu Xing watched wide-eyed at that super giant god, whose physique far exceeded a star and was the size of an entire galaxy.

"Amber Lord!"

Liu Xing stared intently at the deity building the wall, terrified that the great Amber Lord would give the starlight a swing of his hammer. He didn't care about himself—he'd already died once and was just a soul now, unsure how much longer he could exist—but it would be a tragedy if Firefly were caught in the crossfire.

In the original story, Firefly would be picked up by Kafka of the Stellaron Hunters. Although plagued by entropy loss syndrome, she would at least be alive. If she died because of him and the starlight Butterfly, it would be too pathetic.

Fortunately, Amber Lord was focused solely on building the wall and had no interest in them, not even sparing them a glance.

The starlight also ignored Amber Lord's existence, crashing right through that boundless Subspace Crystal Wall right in front of him and hurtling toward the next universe.

"Impressive!"

Liu Xing gave the starlight a thumbs up. Crashing through a wall someone else had painstakingly built right in front of Amber Lord... this was such Trailblaze Aeon behavior, and it also had the flair of the The Aeon of Elation.

As the Subspace Crystal Wall was breached, the giant hammer in the headless colossus's hand reflexively swung down. "Boom!" A deafening sound echoed through the cosmos, announcing the arrival of a new Amber Era to the entire universe.

Countless powerful factions standing within the starry sky were utterly bewildered at this moment. A new Amber Era was here just like that?

This loud bang not only confused the major factions of the universe but also drew the attention of a special existence.

A great being composed of countless clown masks appeared in the universe. It first glanced at Amber Lord, then immediately discovered the starlight passing through the Subspace Crystal Wall toward an unknown universe.

It chased after the direction the starlight had left, shouting as it pursued, "Wait for Aha! Aha wants to get on the train!"

But before it could cross the Celestial Comet Wall, the starlight seemed to sense something. Time and space distorted around it, and it instantly vanished from this universe.

Aha stopped in his tracks and laughed maniacally, "Hahaha! Aha really has no face!"

Liu Xing wiped away non-existent cold sweat from his forehead. He had almost been targeted by the God of Joy. Although he was a bit of a jokester himself, he didn't want to become the joke.

To evade the Aeon of Elation, the starlight seemed to have entered an incredible dimension. Outside the starlight was pitch black, and Liu Xing even felt a wave of dizziness, as if they were constantly spinning.

One must remember he had no physical body. For even a spiritual body to feel this sense of pulling, an ominous premonition rose in his heart.

As it turned out, his feeling was correct. Firefly, who had a physical body, showed no abnormalities and continued to sleep peacefully as always. Instead, it was Liu Xing's spiritual body that felt a powerful tearing sensation, as if he were about to be ripped to shreds by some force.

Survival instinct made him want to find a shelter, but without a body, the only life-saving straw he could grasp within this starlight was the sleeping Firefly.

Driven to a dead end, Liu Xing dove into Firefly's body. As his soul flooded into her form, a surge of foreign memories rushed into his mind.

In a transparent cultivation pod, she was submerged in cold artificial amniotic fluid, encased in a snow-white egg. The container swayed; she floated, instinctively groping for the cold, soft edges. She pressed herself tightly against the pod wall, curling into a corner as if that could make her body feel more warmth. She heard giant objects falling, the clashing of metal, and hurried footsteps echoing from time to time as the pod began to shake. A pair of mechanical hands picked her up, and a blinding light tore the World apart.

She forgot to cry. She opened her eyes but couldn't see the person speaking. She stood up, passed through thick curtains, and moved toward the depths of the palace. Orderly footsteps echoed in the empty hall.

She passed through a desolate, giant garden, walked by massive insect remains, and moved through one incubation device after another. Finally, she entered a magnificent assembly hall. A woman with a blurred face sat on a throne, her hands hanging tiredly. "Come here... my child." A distant voice came from the depths of her mind, and an inexplicable fanaticism flooded her thoughts. She walked to the woman, knelt, and kissed her fingertips.

The woman's hand was as cold as ice, causing her to feel a brief moment of daze amidst her fanaticism.

Unknowingly, she grew used to the battlefield, used to donning a mecha and fighting endlessly. Her whole life was spent fighting, fighting, and more fighting. Her memories were very monotonous; most of her time was spent in a cultivation pod, followed by heading to the battlefield to slaughter the terrifying Swarm.

Her final memory was of standing alone on scorched earth filled with thick smoke. As far as the eye could see, the ground was covered with the corpses of soldiers and insects. Then, a comrade who was barely alive came before her. After saying, "To live for battle... is the glory of the Glamoth Iron Cavalry... For... Her Majesty the Empress..." they died completely.

She began to question herself and everything about the Glamoth Iron Cavalry. Then, a new bud broke through the scorched earth. She finally welcomed a new life, and the nature of her armor's energy also underwent a change. Wearing her evolved armor, she flew toward the rising sun, destroying Swarm and the planet Glaumr that had constrained her entire life.

This was the young girl's life—a monotonous and tragic life.

Liu Xing opened his eyes and looked with a complex expression at the silver-haired girl before him, who was hugging her knees. Out of survival instinct, he had hidden in Firefly's body, entered her mental space, and obtained the memories of her entire life.
