Angelise's POV
Azrael's face stiffened, his eyes burning gold at the nickname I'd spat at him. But I wasn't done. The fire in my veins was hotter than his rage.
"You are now free to fuck her—or better yet, make her the head of your harem." I commented, my gaze shifting to Amber. "I think she wouldn't mind even if you fancy to fuck pigs one day."
Silence strangled the room. Amber's face turned red in fury, but she waited for Azrael to react. Meanwhile, Samuel looked like he'd seen a ghost. He could understand my anger, but insulting his master would only lead to punishment or worse, execution.
But to everyone's surprise, Azrael didn't say a word. He laughed, loud and cynical, as if he'd just heard the best joke ever. Amber's face fell, stunned that he didn't trash me for the insults.
Azrael looked at me, his smile twisting into a cunning smirk. "I reject your rejection." He declared.
This annoying prick!
"I don't care!" I snapped. "It's over between us." My heart ached again at the idea of separation, but I refused to show it.
Silence filled the room again, suffocating enough for everyone but Azrael. He stared at me like I was some pet throwing a tantrum. Goosebumps crawled over my skin. The fact that I'd once been excited to marry him made me nauseous.
"Fine," Azrael agreed. Placing his hands in his pockets, he stared at me and continued, "If I reject you and free you from this bond, do you think you can handle the consequences?"
"Do you think anyone out there is foolish enough to take you?" Stepping closer, he added, "No pack will offer you shelter or food. You will end up having a fate worse than stray dogs, Angelise."
His every word stabbed deeper than claws. He was right, and that made me feel even worse. Alphas always held the upper hand when it came to rejection. When these womanizers reject their mates, especially omegas or worse humans, society would treat them like untouchables who need to be annihilated. I'd heard stories more terrible than nightmares.
"Rejecting me won't free you, sweetheart," Azrael added, his ego back at its peak. "You belong to me. And no wolf would ever dare to touch what's mine."
"Yes, sis." Amber decided to butt again. "Be grateful that he didn't reject you, unlike other Alphas mated to humans. He is even ready to marry you." She chimed sweetly. "You should stop acting childish."
The urge to throw something at her, at both of them, intensified within me. But Azrael's words haunted me, replaying like a broken record.
Surely, my papa would help, but can he go against his Alpha? After spending so much on our wedding, parading me all over the press, would Alpha Kendrick set me free? Just because his son was having fun with another woman?
Azrael smirked in victory. Moving closer, he added, "Go back to your room and sleep. We will talk tomorrow." When I didn't respond, he held my hand, caressing it softly. "I promise I'll explain once you cool down."
My entire body scorched at his touch. "Don't touch me, you spineless scum!" I barked, shoving away his hand and slapped him.
Smack!
My palm hit his cheek, the sound echoing before a deafening silence took over the room. Azrael looked stunned, too stunned to speak. I glared at him in disgust, wiping my hand that had just touched his cheek.
"How dare you slap our future Alpha?" Amber screamed, stepping closer to me.
"Oh, don't be jealous, sweetie." I smiled bitterly. "You'll get one too."
I raised my hand to hit her, but Azrael caught it, his eyes glowing gold again. Before I could react, he twisted it behind my back.
"Leave me, fucking asshole!" I yelled, trying to free myself. But Azrael twisted it further, making me cry out loud in pain.
"I have tolerated enough of your tantrums, Angelise." Azrael hissed, his voice hot against my neck.
He turned around and dragged me towards the study table. "I will teach you a lesson tonight. So harsh that you will never run that petty mouth of yours again."
"Get out!" he barked at Amber, then glaring at Samuel. Both quickly ran out of the room, not even caring to look at me.
Dread swallowed me whole, the earlier defiance vanishing completely. With his free hand, he wiped out all the things on the table.
"Leave me!" I cried, my eyes moistening slightly. My body trembled at his madness.
To my respite, Azrael released me. But his hands reached out to the neck of my dress. In a swift motion, he tore it apart, leaving me in my thin undergarments. I gasped, my hands instantly covering my chest. His eyes trailed over my exposed skin before stopping between my thighs.
I tried to escape, but he was quick. Too quick to turn me around. He stood behind me before forcing me to bend over the table. His hand pressed my head, sticking my cheek to the table's wood. My body trembled. I continued to struggle, but it was useless against his strength.
My heart rammed against my chest, tears stinging my eyes. "Let me go!" I begged, my voice breaking into small chokes. "Please…"
I could feel him smirk in victory. But he didn't let me go. His grip only tightened on my hair. "Not today, sweetheart. You have crossed the line and need to be tamed." He murmured with a sneer.
His scent seeped into my lungs. Pine and leather. It always made me giddy. But now, it was thick, heavy, and disgusting. His fingers slid down my neck, making me shiver in terror. They paused at the hem of my panties, tugging them gently.
My blood ran cold, tears finally breaking free. Oh, I was doomed!
Just before he could rip it away, along with whatever pride was left in me, the doors burst open.
"Alpha Kendrick and Luna Beatrice are looking for you." A woman cried, her voice drenched in panic. "Your Brother is here. They want to see you right now!" she added.
"Dammit." Azrael cursed under his breath. "Why is that psycho here?" he muttered. I felt his hand tremble, his fingers slipping through my hair.
His Brother?
Relief flooded me as he released me. But dread returned when Azrael forced me to turn around and face him.
"Ah," I hissed as he gripped my chin, his eyes glowing red. My grip tightened on the edge of the table, my legs trying their best to support me.
"Don't even think of escaping, sweetheart," Azrael warned, his intentions quite clear. "I'll chase you down no matter where you hide." Gripping my bottom lip with his fingers, he smiled, "Better save your energy. You will need it later in bed."
