"I will suggest a midwife whom I can trust to come to look after Lady Hawthorne. I assure you that she will work and not speak a word of what occurs here. She would be better at confirming if you are pregnant now," said Michael.
Eloise looked back, and already, Damien was standing behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders.
"Send the midwife to us today. I will need to talk with her before letting her tend to my wife. Isn't there more you can do to confirm whether she is pregnant?" Damien asked, trying his best to keep his composure despite the hopeful anticipation building inside him.
"There are some old tests that others believe can tell, but I don't believe in them. Most require Lady Hawthorne's urine. I would prefer not to subject you to what I don't think works. I say that we wait to see if she bleeds and monitor the growth of her belly," Michael suggested.
