Chapter 111 - Chapter 1: Theory of Space

Morning came too fast.

I barely slept.

Not because I couldn't—but because my brain wouldn't shut up.

Every time I closed my eyes, I was back there.

That place.

That space.

My space.

Fragments floating… connecting… breaking…

"…Distortion…" I muttered, staring at the ceiling.

I sat up slowly in bed, rubbing my eyes. The air around my fingers shimmered faintly for just a second—like space itself was reacting to my thoughts now.

"…Okay… that's new…"

I got dressed quickly and stepped outside. The air was crisp, quiet. Most people were still waking up, but I already knew who I needed to find.

If there was anyone who would understand even half of this…

It was Izuku Midoriya.

The Talk Begins

I found him exactly where I expected—sitting at a table, notebooks already spread out, muttering to himself while scribbling at lightning speed.

"…and if spatial compression works like that, then maybe—oh! Ren!"

He looked up, eyes lighting up instantly.

"Good morning!"

I sat across from him.

"…I need to tell you something."

He froze.

That was enough to get his full attention.

"…Everything."

Midoriya straightened immediately, flipping to a fresh page.

"I'm listening."

Breaking It Down

I took a deep breath.

"…Okay. So. You know how my portals work, right?"

He nodded quickly.

"Spatial displacement through localized distortions—basically folding space to connect two points."

"…Yeah. That," I said. "But it's more than that."

I leaned forward.

"I'm not just moving through space anymore."

"…I'm changing it."

His pencil stopped.

"…Changing… it?"

I nodded.

"…Yesterday, when I tried to copy Hiromi Higuruma's domain…"

Midoriya tensed slightly.

"…Yeah… that didn't fully work."

"It didn't," I said. "But that's not the important part."

I tapped the table.

"The important part is what happened after."

I explained everything.

The meditation.

The shift.

The mind space.

The fragments.

The way everything connected.

How techniques weren't just powers…

But rules.

Midoriya's writing sped up rapidly.

"…So you're saying… all these abilities—domains, cursed techniques, even quirks to an extent—follow underlying principles that can be translated if you understand the system well enough…?"

I pointed at him.

"Exactly."

His eyes widened.

"That's insane… that's like—like cross-system compatibility between power structures—!"

I nodded.

"…And I can use that."

The Science of It

Midoriya leaned forward, completely locked in now.

"…Explain the distortion part again."

I took a breath.

"…Think about space like a sheet of paper."

He nodded.

"Classic analogy, yeah."

"I don't just fold it anymore," I said. "I can… stretch it. Twist it. Overlay parts of it."

His eyes widened.

"…So you're not just creating shortcuts—you're manipulating spatial geometry itself…"

"Yeah," I said. "And when I went into that mind space…"

I paused.

"…It felt like I was looking at the blueprint of how I use it."

Midoriya's hand shook slightly as he wrote.

"A mental construct representing your internalized understanding of spatial mechanics…"

"…Basically," I said with a small shrug.

He looked up at me.

"…Ren… that's huge."

I leaned back slightly.

"…I know."

The Big Realization

I stared at the table for a second.

"…Here's the part that matters most."

Midoriya stopped writing.

"If I understand the rule behind an ability…"

"…I can recreate it."

Silence.

Then—

"…Not copy it exactly…" Midoriya whispered.

"…But adapt it into your own system," I finished.

His eyes widened even more.

"That means—"

"I can learn things I shouldn't be able to," I said.

The air between us felt heavier now.

Because we both understood.

This wasn't normal.

This wasn't just a quirk anymore.

This was something else entirely.

Midoriya's Reaction

Midoriya suddenly stood up.

"Ren—do you realize what this means?!"

I blinked.

"…That I'm overpowered?"

"…YES—but also that your growth potential is basically unlimited if you can keep understanding these systems!"

I scratched the back of my head.

"…Yeah, that too."

He started pacing now.

"This could change everything—combat, training, strategy—if you can replicate even fragments of abilities like domain expansions—!"

I stood up too.

"…That's what I'm aiming for."

He stopped.

"…So what's next?"

The "Statement"

I looked at my hands again.

Space flickered faintly.

Not unstable.

Not chaotic.

Just… waiting.

"…I keep practicing," I said.

"…I keep learning the rules."

I looked up at him.

"…And I build my own abilities from them."

Midoriya nodded slowly.

"…And the domain?"

I smiled slightly.

"…That too."

I paused for just a moment.

Then said it.

Calm.

Confident.

But with something deeper behind it.

"Even though I need to work on them…"

"…I could probably perfect a different ability."

Midoriya leaned in.

"…And?"

I grinned.

"…I could probably do Higuruma's domain perfectly if I try and try again."

Silence.

Then—

Midoriya just stared at me.

"…That's terrifying."

I laughed.

"…Yeah."

Outside, the wind shifted slightly.

Space flickered—just barely.

But enough to feel.

And for the first time…

This wasn't just potential anymore.

This was direction.

And I was about to follow it—

As far as it could possibly go.
