Chapter 86 - Chapter 10: Another Field Trip

When Nezu said "group experiment," I assumed he meant something small.

You know.

Like opening a portal.

Looking through it.

Closing it.

Simple.

But instead, I was standing in the principal's office holding a playing card while half of Class 1-A crowded behind me like we were about to enter a haunted house.

Beside me stood Shota Aizawa, looking like a man who had accepted chaos as a permanent part of his life.

Behind us were:

Kaito.

Kirishima.

Mina.

Denki.

Izuku Midoriya, already writing notes.

And several other curious students peeking through the doorway.

Denki pointed at the card in my hand.

"So… that opens the portal?"

"…Yes."

"And it leads to the villain base?"

"…Usually."

He grinned.

"THIS IS THE BEST SATURDAY EVER."

Aizawa sighed.

"Ren."

"…Yeah?"

"Open it."

I swallowed.

"Alright."

Portal #1

I threw the card.

Space twisted.

Air folded like paper.

And then—

WHOOOM

A dark portal opened in the middle of the office.

Everyone leaned forward.

On the other side…

We could clearly see the League base.

A broken couch.

The card table.

The same dim lights.

And sitting there again were:

Tomura Shigaraki

Dabi

Kurogiri

Dabi looked up first.

He froze.

Then slowly leaned back in his chair.

"…No way."

Shigaraki rubbed his face.

"…You brought more."

Kurogiri tilted his head politely.

"Good afternoon."

Behind me, Denki waved enthusiastically.

"HI!"

Aizawa stepped forward slightly.

The villains immediately noticed him.

Dabi pointed.

"You again."

Aizawa took a sip of coffee.

"Me again."

I raised a finger.

"Okay before anyone panics—"

Too late.

Class 1-A Reaction

Kirishima stepped through the portal first.

"WOAH!"

He looked around like he just entered a museum.

"This is their base?!"

Mina stepped through next.

"Oh my gosh it's smaller than I expected."

Denki followed.

"This is so cool."

I stared in horror.

"WHY ARE YOU WALKING IN?!"

Midoriya stepped through last.

Already writing notes.

"Incredible… the spatial distortion between locations remains stable…"

Shigaraki stared at the group now standing in his base.

"…Are these children."

I raised both hands.

"Technically yes."

Dabi leaned back again.

"…This is officially the weirdest villain headquarters ever."

The Real Problem

Then someone else walked through the portal.

Nezu.

He calmly examined the room.

"Fascinating."

Shigaraki pointed at him.

"…What is that."

Nezu bowed politely.

"Principal of U.A. High School."

The entire villain base went silent.

Then Dabi laughed.

"Oh my god."

Guess Who's Back

And then—

Footsteps.

Fast ones.

From the hallway.

My entire body froze.

I knew those footsteps.

A very familiar voice echoed through the room.

"RENNNNN?"

Everyone turned.

Himiko Toga walked into the room.

She froze.

Then her eyes got huge.

Because now she wasn't seeing just me.

She saw:

Me.

Aizawa.

Class 1-A.

And the principal.

Standing inside the villain base.

Her brain visibly struggled to process the situation.

"…Ren?"

I slowly pointed behind me.

"…Field trip."

Denki waved.

"HI AGAIN!"

Mina smiled.

"Nice to see you!"

Toga stared at all of us.

Then she slowly pulled out her knife again.

"Oh good."

I groaned.

"NOT AGAIN."

Her smile got wider.

"So many friends!"

She lunged forward.

And instantly the room exploded into chaos.

Kirishima hardened.

Denki sparked with electricity.

Midoriya jumped backward.

I teleported to the ceiling.

Aizawa activated his scarf.

Dabi leaned back to watch.

Shigaraki looked exhausted.

And Kurogiri calmly moved the card table out of the way.

Because apparently this had become a regular occurrence now.

Above the Chaos

From the ceiling beam I looked down at the madness.

Toga chasing half of Class 1-A.

Denki yelling.

Mina dodging.

Kirishima trying to protect everyone.

And Aizawa already capturing Toga's arm with his scarf.

I sighed.

"…This is my life now."

Behind me, a calm voice appeared.

Kurogiri had opened a small portal beside the beam.

"Tea?"

I looked at him.

"…Sure."

And somewhere below us, Dabi yelled:

"Kid! If you bring your whole class next time, at least warn us!"
