Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

The lab became dead silent, like Benjamin had said the truth that everyone had been running away from.

"It is finished. There is no way this planet would survive an invasion."

Benjamin added again, and only then did he realize he had crossed the line, and that was because he hadn't gotten a hang of the body he was possessing.

"That is not true."

Elizabeth said at that moment.

"Earth has one of the finest defenses in the world, and in space as well. It's not the rubbish we see in movies and cartoons; those things don't know how far we have come in building weapons. There are so many secret weapons that we possess that none of us have an idea of.

I don't think an invasion would ruin us completely; I believe it would bring us into unity, and moreover, that alien might have come to Earth a thousand years ago, and yet its presence went unnoticed. I believe our temperature must've killed it, and that brings me to why I say we will survive an invasion, because we are the ones at home."

Elizabeth slammed her fist on the table and roared,

"For Christ's sake, nobody understands our house like we do!

There is simply no way we are losing!"

Her words brought light to everyone's faces, and they started smiling again, including Elizabeth.

Benjamin couldn't believe the illiteracy in the room. That was why they were this far behind.

If an invasion were to happen now, they would be wiped out in seconds. They wouldn't even know they were under attack by an alien ship until it was too late. That was how doomed the planet was currently.

Just then Elizabeth stopped close to Benjamin and gently rubbed her hands on his back.

"Don't worry, you will be fine.

You will get over it soon."

Elizabeth said as she continued to rub his back gently with her hands. She believed Benjamin was talking this way because he was the one who disposed the alien. It was understandable for Benjamin to be scared.

[New world study completed.]

[All data will be made available once you regain the memory of the possessed body.]

Benjamin's facial expression was ugly as he read the message. Normally he would've been curious to see the message, but he already knew how far back the planet was and the people in it as well.

How weak their bodies were.

If he had stayed in his body, he would've processed a lot of things already.

His system processing speed reduced drastically immediately he took control of this body, and that means things were only going to get difficult for him.

It wasn't only his system processing speed that was down; his entire existence felt slow as well, and it wasn't because he had forcefully taken control of the body he was possessing; it seemed he had something to do with being human.

There were thousands of limitations to it that he doesn't know about.

Benjamin's expression darkened immediately, and just then Elizabeth slapped him on his head.

"Come on, get over it already. Don't tell me you are suddenly suicidal over a weak, dead alien that couldn't withstand our atmosphere!"

Everybody burst out laughing, but Benjamin faced Elizabeth with a deadly glare.

"You saw how many volts the doctors were using on that alien, and his body was able to withstand it. What makes you think he wasn't able to survive a fragile environment like this?"

Benjamin said as he looked around. The room was dead silent again, and Elizabeth's face went down as well, as she really had no idea why the alien was dead and how many aliens could've entered Earth unnoticed.

Benjamin was right; this was a time to be afraid.

"But something killed it, and it wasn't us"

Somebody said among the crowd. Just as the person said the words. Another person mistakenly fell the jug of water that was on the table, and due to the formation of the table, most of the water came rushing in Benjamin's direction.

Benjamin's hands were on the table, but immediately the water touched his hands, a system message coded in red appeared on his dashboard.

[Element is harmful to you]

He immediately removed his hands from the table, but the color of his hand changed to green; however, Benjamin was quick to hide the affected hand in the pocket of his lap coat.

Before he could comprehend what had happened to him. He fell to his knees and threw up on the floor.

Cough!

"Are you alright?!"

Elizabeth said as she went on her knees to attend to Benjamin, but Benjamin stood up immediately and said he was fine as he rushed to the exit.

"I am sick."

He said as he left the room. As he came outside. He looked around and saw there were cameras all over the place, so he quietly kept his calm and approached the living rooms that were made available for all the doctors that NASA brought to investigate the alien.

He had remembered almost all the previous Benjamin's memories now, so he remembered where his room was, and he shut the door locked immediately he entered.

As soon as he entered, he brought his hand out and saw that it was still green in color; however, it was slowly changing color back to his body complexion.

Benjamin looked at the system dashboard then, and there was a message on it for him.

[The water element on earth is harmful to your core.

Contacts with it will reveal your true nature, and weaken your core to a great extent, thereby limiting your powers.

Absorbing a large amount of it for a particular duration could potentially destroy your core, thereby resulting in your death.

It's advisable that you run away from this element if you want to survive on this planet]
