Chapter 1 - Unnamed

The rain had just begun to fall over the misty hills of Manali when four friends stepped off the narrow forest trail and into something far more dangerous than a weekend adventure.

Aarav and Kabir had planned the trip for months—trekking through dense pine forests, exploring hidden waterfalls, and capturing breathtaking views for their travel vlog. With them were Meera, fearless and sharp-witted, and Riya, whose quiet strength often surprised everyone.

The hill station felt magical. Clouds floated low, wrapping the mountains in silver mist. The scent of wet earth filled the jungle as they hiked deeper than most tourists dared to go.

"Are you sure this shortcut is safe?" Riya asked softly, brushing rain from her hair.

Kabir grinned. "Where's the adventure without a little risk?"

Meera rolled her eyes. "That's exactly what people say before a horror movie starts."

Aarav laughed, but his eyes stayed on Meera. He admired her courage—the way she walked ahead without hesitation. She felt it too, the silent electricity between them growing stronger with every shared glance.

As evening approached, the jungle grew quieter. Too quiet.

They reached an abandoned British-era forest rest house, half-hidden by vines and moss. Its wooden doors creaked in the wind.

"Let's check it out," Aarav suggested.

Inside, dust floated in thin beams of fading sunlight. Old furniture lay overturned. On the wall hung a faded map of the region—except someone had recently marked a red X deep within the forest.

Kabir's playful expression vanished. "That's not old."

Suddenly, footsteps echoed outside.

Riya grabbed Meera's hand. "We're not alone."

The door slammed shut.

From behind the house, two rough-looking men emerged, whispering urgently. The group realized they had stumbled upon something illegal—smugglers using the jungle trails to transport rare wildlife.

Kabir lowered his voice. "We need proof."

Aarav nodded, pulling out his camera. But before they could move, one of the men spotted them through a broken window.

"Run!" Meera shouted.

They dashed into the forest as darkness swallowed the path. Branches scratched their arms. Rain turned the trail slippery. The men chased them, their flashlights cutting through the night.

Riya stumbled—but Kabir caught her before she fell down a steep slope.

"I've got you," he whispered, holding her close for a moment longer than necessary.

She looked into his eyes, fear mixing with something warmer. "Don't let go."

Ahead, Aarav and Meera reached a rocky cliff overlooking a raging river. No escape.

The smugglers closed in.

Thinking fast, Meera grabbed a fallen beehive hanging from a branch and hurled a stone at it. The swarm erupted, attacking anyone nearby. Amid the chaos, the four friends scrambled down a hidden side path Aarav had spotted earlier.

They didn't stop running until they saw distant lights from the main road.

Hours later, safe in their hotel, soaked and exhausted, the adrenaline slowly faded.

Kabir brushed mud from Riya's cheek. "Next time… maybe just a café date?"

She smiled shyly. "Where's the adventure in that?"

Across the room, Aarav handed Meera a warm cup of tea. "You were incredible today."

She smirked. "Admit it—you loved the thrill."

He stepped closer. "I loved facing it with you."

Outside, the rain softened over the hills. What had begun as a simple trip had turned into danger, bravery, and undeniable love.

In the wild heart of the junglthey hadn't just survived.

They had found each other..
