The kaiju and the robot maintained a distance from each other, as if trying to figure out what the other side would do
"Seekvaira-sama, the results of the scans of the monster have come back, it turns out it is an earth tyranus, but there seems to be something different about this one" Alavian informed her
"If I remember they are weak to ice type abilities and usually spend there time underground in order to stay warm" Seekvaira commented "how is everyone's magic reserves?"
"We are not at optimum levels, but we still have more than enough" Alavian replied, the other peerage members nodding in agreement
"Then channel ice magic into the beam rifle, we'll try to take this thing out in a single shot" Seekvaira declared
On the other side of the field Aremic was looking up at his beast from the roof of his base "how is everything progressing?" he asked to Varyn who was by his side
"It is taking all of the focus of the rest of your peerage in order to control the beast, but currently the data is showing positive results" Varyn responded, handing a tablet to Aremic
"These are good numbers" Aremic smiled "tell them to keep position, I want to see whether our little booster is working" watching the robot as it began to channel energy into its rifle
"Of course sir" Varyn bowed as he returned to the main room
"Now, show me your power" Aremic grinned as a beam of pure ice magic shot through the air, freezing the kaiju solid
"Direct hit Seekvaira-sama, the beast has been completely frozen" one of her peerage informed her
"Something's wrong" Seekvaira frowned, not being so stupid as to realise that the beast in front of her hadn't even tried to dodge the blast "wait, what's going on?" she exclaimed as she saw smoke start to rise from the giant block of ice
The monster in the ice had turned red at some point and the ice around it was starting to melt at a rapid pace
"This is impossible" Seekvaira blurted out "earth tyranus live underground next to lava flows precisely because they are unable to raise their own body temperature, it is why they are so susceptible to the cold"
"Wonderful" Aremic exclaimed happily "this is working even better than I expected, now to get some close combat data" he smiled as he sent an order to his peerage
Having thawed itself out, the tyranus let out a loud roar before dashing towards the giant robot
"Quick, change to close combat form" Seekvaira ordered
At the order the robots rifle transformed into a giant blade in one hand as the other hand gained a shield that had been on its back, a track on the outside if its arm having allowed it to move into position with having to move it's arm in order to grab it
Just as the shield locked into place the full weight of the tyranus smashed against it, pushing the whole robot backwards
"Damage report" shouted Seekvaira
"Minor damage to the shield" responded one of the peerage members "but the legs have suffered some damage due to withstanding the impact, as such while it is repaired we will not be able to move as fast"
"Ready the sword, if it trues again we will make sure it doesn't come out unscathed" Seekvaira commanded
As the kaiju charged at the robot again it used its shield more skilfully and was able to mitigate more of the damage as it swung its blade at the back of the monster, creating a large wound on its back
"We have hit" Alavain declared "this should slow down the beasts movements"
As if to respond to Alavain's words, the wound on the beasts back began to heal rapidly, and worse still, the scales on it seemed to become even thicker as it did
"What kind of creature did Aremic manage to get his hands on?" Seekvaira wondered to herself
"Yes, this is marvellous, incredible, outstanding" Aremic beamed "all the data is beyond my greatest hopes"
Unfortunately for him, fate seemed to be playing fair today as red warning symbols started to fill the screen
"Varyn, what's going on? explain" Aremic roared down his communicator
"The tyranus seems to be loosing control, it seems that due to its size the formula that we gave it was not sufficient to be able to allow it to adapt to its changes, as such its body is starting to reject the changes that it has gained and it is causing it to go out of control, within the next few minutes it is likely that it will be unable to hold itself together and will collapse" Varyn responded
"Hrm, how unfortunate, but the data that we have obtained from it will be incredibly useful for further improving on the formula" Aremic sighed "put up as much of a fight as you can before the beast succumbs, we will allow Seekvaira the win as payment for acting as such a good opponent for our first trial run of the serum, oh and Varyn, make it as flashy as you can"
"Understood sir" bowed Varyn
The battle that unfolded was one that looked great on the outside, but to those with a discerning eye they could tell that victory had already fell into Seekvaira's hands, as the way that the kaiju moved was rapidly slowing down, ending with it leaving an opening that allowed the giant robot to decapitate it with a single finishing move, with a speaker on the robot calling out Time Devil Slash as it did so
With his secret weapon defeated Aremic took the opportunity to surrender, declaring that he had nothing else that could match the giant robot and that any further combat would be pointless
"That was a real nail biter right up until the end there" Xenovia said as she stretched, jumping off of Blaze's lap "such a shame that something seemed to happen to the kaiju at the end there or it would have been an even better battle"
"To bad, I was routing for the beasts" Koneko mumbled quietly
"Well then everyone" Rias clapped, gathering everyone's attention "it's starting to get late, we should probably get to sleep" leading the way out of the living room, with everyone else following behind her
"You coming?" she asked Blaze who was still sitting on the couch looking at the remains of the giant monster that was still on the screen
"..... Yeah" she responded half heartedly, feeling like something was wrong with the monster, but unable to put her finger on it as she followed Rias back to their room, not even feeling like doing it with Rias that night even after Xenovia had been sitting on her lap for the whole rating game, as something seemed to be gnawing at the back of her brain, but she did her best to ignore it for now and just get some rest, hoping the feeling would be gone by the next morning.
