(BLUE'S POV)
The moment Mason's eyes fully opened—truly opened, with clarity and awareness instead of that glassy, pain-filled haze—the room erupted.
Jake was the first to move. He practically launched himself across the space, crashing into Mason's arms with a force that would have knocked a lesser man backward. His shoulders shook with violent sobs, his fingers digging into Mason's back like he was afraid that if he let go, Mason would vanish into thin air.
"You're okay," Jake choked out between sobs. "You're okay, you're okay, you're okay. I thought I lost you. I thought I lost you, Mason."
Mason's arms wrapped around his friend, holding him tight. "I'm here, Jake. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."
Abigail and Fiona were next, crashing into the embrace from either side, their tears mingling with Jake's. They pressed their faces into Mason's shoulders, their bodies trembling with relief and joy and the lingering aftershock of fear.
