(BLUE'S POV)
The world slowed to a crawl.
I watched it happen—watched Haelorian lift that silver knife into the air, watched the moonlight catch its blade and set it ablaze like a fallen star. I saw the calm in his eyes, the quiet acceptance that settled over his features like a mask. I saw Henry's trusting gaze fixed on him, saw the faint smile that tugged at Haelorian's lips.
And then I saw him bring the knife down.
Time stretched, each fraction of a second elongating into an eternity. The blade arced through the air, glinting in the moonlight, moving with a graceful inevitability that made my heart stop. I saw it pierce his chest—saw the fabric of his shirt part, saw the silver sink into flesh, saw the first bloom of crimson spread across the white linen.
"Haelorian!" The scream tore from my throat, but my voice was lost in the chaos that erupted around me.
