(HAELORIAN'S POV)
The walk downstairs was slow and careful, my arm wrapped firmly around Henry's waist as he leaned against me for support. His steps were unsteady, his body trembling with the effort of simply moving from one room to another. But he was determined, and I admired that fire burning beneath his fragile exterior.
When we entered the dining room, the conversation stopped momentarily as everyone turned to greet us. The table was laden with food—roasted meats glistening with juices, mountains of mashed potatoes, steaming bowls of vegetables and bread. The scent was intoxicating, filling the room with warmth and life.
"Henry!" Beau's small voice piped up from his chair, his small hands reaching toward him. "Uncle Henry!"
Henry's face softened, a genuine smile breaking through his pallor. "Hey there, buddy. Are you being good for everyone?"
Beau nodded vigorously, saying something unintelligible that made everyone laugh.
