Over a century ago, one stormy night sitting on the same land where Payne Manor sat was a cottage.
A man banged on the cottage door.
"Father Marcus," the person yelled as he banged.
Marcus walked to the door and opened it. A man drenched knelt at his feet.
"James, what is wrong," Marcus asked as he helped him up.
"My wife has started showing signs of witchcraft," the man confessed.
"I'll go call the inquisitor," Marcus said but before he could leave James grabbed him.
"I was wondering if you could handle this on your own," James explained.
"But I am not an inquisitor yet," Marcus complained.
"I know but I trust you. You can save here, you've witnessed countless inquisitions," James encouraged.
'I can use this opportunity to practice,' Marcus thought.
Marcus agreed and James gathered a few of his friends and they stormed his house.
"James what is going on?" James' wife asked when they stormed in.
"Shut up witch," James said and slapped her.
They grabbed his wife and bound her hands and feet.
"I am not a witch," James' wife yelled as Marcus prayed and sprinkled water on her. They carried her to his house where he kept interrogating her.
"Where is your coven?" he asked
"I have no coven. I attend mass with you," the woman replied.
"How many people have died by your hands?" Marcus asked but this time the woman did not respond.
She cried.
"Are you willing to change your ways and give your life to Christ?" Marcus asked and she nodded.
In the present as Nathan screamed the ghost asked.
"Marcus, where is your coven?"
Nathan looked around and noticed more ghosts. There were hundreds of them. They all chanted
"Where is your coven?"
'Marcus? It seems they are trapped in a memory,' Nathan thought.
"I am not a witch," Nathan said to them.
"That's what we all told you but did you believe us?" the ghost explained.
"I am not Marcus," Nathan said just as Jenny walked in.
"Who are you talking to?" she asked.
"Help me!" Nathan yelled.
"Stop playing around. This place creeps me out," Jenny complained.
'She can't see them,' Nathan thought then tried to force himself up.
The female ghost floated to Jenny.
"Leave her alone," Nathan yelled.
"You are scaring me. I'm getting Mark," Jenny said and ran out.
Jenny found Mark in the kitchen. He was facing the wall a muttering something.
"Mark, I think Nathan needs your help," Jenny said. He turned around casually.
"Where is he?" he asked.
"Basement, there is a tunnel that will lead you to him," Jenny said.
Minutes later, Mark ran down with a shotgun.
"Can you see them?" Nathan asked.
"See what?" Mark asked.
"Ghosts, they are all over," Nathan explained.
"Point me in the right direction," Mark said.
"Left" Nathan yelled.
"Right," he added.
He kept shouting directions until rocksalt blasted through his captor. She disappeared and he was able to move again.
"Let's get out of here," Nathan said as soon as he got off the stone slab. He grabbed one of the unconscious people and dragged them out.
Mark grabbed the remaining two and walked out of there. Nathan watched the apparitions flicker as they left.
