Chapter 82 - Echoes of the Crown

Artyom reached toward the silver pendant.

The moment his fingers touched it, a pulse of warmth spread through the chamber.

The lilies carved into the walls bloomed with silver light.

The pendant was light in his hand.

Yet it carried the weight of centuries.

---

Elara smiled.

"It recognizes you."

---

Artyom examined the pendant.

On its back, a single sentence had been engraved.

> "A crown is earned by those who protect, not those who command."

---

He closed his hand around it.

"I don't want a crown."

---

Elara's eyes softened.

"Neither did the greatest rulers."

---

The chamber suddenly trembled.

Not violently.

Like a heartbeat echoing through the mountain.

---

Far above, in the Sanctuary's Grand Hall...

Roman looked toward the ceiling.

"It started again."

---

Dmitri studied the crystal control panel.

"The Sanctuary is activating new sectors."

---

Ancient maps illuminated across the walls.

Rooms long sealed by time slowly unlocked.

Libraries.

Armories.

Training halls.

Hidden vaults.

---

Nikola frowned.

"It's responding to Artyom."

---

Caelum nodded.

"Only the heir can awaken the Sanctuary completely."

---

Meanwhile...

Deep within the Hall of Echoes...

A new doorway appeared behind the Queen's throne.

Unlike the others, this one was forged from black stone.

Across its surface were engraved seven unfamiliar crests.

---

Artyom looked toward Elara.

"What's behind that door?"

---

Her smile disappeared.

"The part of our history we wished no one would ever see."

---

"The beginning of the war."

---

Silence filled the chamber.

---

Artyom stepped closer.

The pendant around his neck suddenly glowed.

The seven crests lit up one by one.

Until only one remained dark.

At its center...

A silver eclipse.

---

Artyom frowned.

"The Eclipse..."

---

Elara nodded.

"It existed long before the Order."

---

Before she could explain...

A deafening rumble shook the Sanctuary.

Dust rained from the ceiling.

The crystal lights flickered.

---

Outside, the Siege had begun.

Explosions echoed through the mountain as the Eclipse Order launched another assault.

---

Dmitri's voice crackled through the Sanctuary's communication crystals.

"Artyom!"

"If you can hear me..."

"They've breached the outer defenses!"

---

Roman drew his weapon.

"No one reaches the inner city."

---

Viktor stepped forward.

His injured shoulder still bandaged.

"I'll hold the eastern passage."

---

Mikhail grinned as he loaded his weapon.

"Finally."

---

Nikola disappeared into the shadows without another word.

---

Inside the Hall...

Artyom looked toward the trembling walls.

"They need me."

---

Elara nodded.

"They do."

---

"But before you leave..."

She placed a gentle hand over the pendant.

"You must know one truth."

---

She met his eyes.

"The Eclipse Order isn't searching for the First Family."

A pause.

"They're searching for what the First Family imprisoned."

---

The chamber fell silent.

Artyom stared at the sealed black door.

For the first time...

He wondered if opening every secret of the Sanctuary might be more dangerous than leaving them buried.
