Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Run? That Doesn't Exist

Holy crap, this stampede of a thousand pigs has some serious intimidating momentum. Even a wolf can get a little spooked.

Zhang Yang felt a tiny flicker of panic, but he didn't dodge.

That's the thing about wild boars — their intelligence is really questionable.

There was only so much space right in front of Zhang Yang, yet these guys all charged at him together. Before they could even reach him, they started fighting and jostling among themselves.

"Hey, slow down! You're about to cause a stampede pile-up!"

Zhang Yang watched several poor little ones get brutally trampled by their own companions and genuinely felt heartache.

These were all evolution points! Talent fragments!

Getting trampled to death by their own kind would be an absolutely massive waste.

To prevent such waste, Zhang Yang finally moved.

For the moment, he gave up on direct attacks.

There were simply too many wild boars. Even though his Constitution and Strength were already very high, Zhang Yang had no intention of clashing head-on with them.

"Don't let him get away!"

The wild boar king stood off to the side, smugly directing the chase. Watching the guy who had whipped him with a tail now being chased around by his minions filled him with delight.

Finally vented some anger.

But Zhang Yang had never planned to run far away. He led the boars on a full lap around the wide grassland. After just one circle, many wild boars had already fallen behind.

Very few could still keep up with him.

The battle line was stretched thin — now things were manageable.

As long as he wasn't facing too many wild boars at the same time, Zhang Yang truly wasn't afraid at all.

When Zhang Yang suddenly spun around and charged back into the herd, chaos erupted among the pigs.

Instant panic.

No one expected Zhang Yang to counterattack.

And his counterattack was on another level.

He specifically targeted vital spots. One swipe of his claw could rip open a wild boar's throat.

His movements were ridiculously nimble.

When the wild boar king saw this scene, his eyes went wide.

He finally understood — all those dead minions had been killed by this bastard right in front of him.

The method was exactly the same.

Even if Zhang Yang tried to deny it now, there was no way he could talk his way out.

"Kill him! Crash him to death for me!"

Dare to kill my little brothers? Then I'll crash you to death.

The boar king's heart was ruthless.

However, the wild boars' speed was honestly pathetic — they couldn't catch up to Zhang Yang at all.

In a straight-line charge, wild boars were fast.

But Zhang Yang kept taking S-shaped paths. His movement technique was elegant and elusive.

Turning corners? Wild boars struggle with that, you know?

One, two, five, ten.

By the time daylight fully broke, Zhang Yang had already killed ten wild boars. He didn't hold back the evolution points he gained — he dumped them all into Agility.

+5 Agility.

This made Zhang Yang even faster, his movements even more graceful and untouchable.

The wild boar king was getting annoyed.

I brought so many little brothers to surround and kill you — you should just give up and accept your fate. Even if you fight back, you can't just massacre so many of my subordinates, right?

Isn't that a bit too ruthless? Too dishonorable?

Suddenly, the wild boar king noticed several wolf heads poking out from inside the den, watching.

"Haha! You kill my little brothers? Then I'll kill yours!"

The boar king decided to take out his anger on the other jungle wolves.

With a few grunts and snorts from the boar king, half of the wild boars gave up chasing Zhang Yang — since they couldn't catch him anyway — and turned toward the wolf den.

Zhang Yang saw this and cursed inwardly.

He had already anticipated the boar king might do exactly this.

That was precisely why he hadn't run far from the den in the first place — to guard against this move.

"Get back inside the den!"

Zhang Yang roared from a distance.

The other jungle wolves didn't have his kind of speed or agility.

Hearing Zhang Yang's howl, the wild boar king immediately became smug again.

He felt like he had finally found Zhang Yang's weakness.

But damn, this guy really runs fast — he's practically turned into a streak of cyan shadow.

Watching Zhang Yang charge back at full speed, the boar king couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

Honestly… he was a little envious.

If only he could have such flexible movement.

Zhang Yang really was fast — way faster than those boars.

"My King, don't worry about us! Just go! Save yourself!"

The jungle wolves saw Zhang Yang rushing back and howled sadly. They were already blocked inside the den by the wild boars — there was no escape for them.

But if Zhang Yang wanted to run, the boars had absolutely no way to stop him.

"Get the hell back inside!"

Zhang Yang cursed furiously, then positioned himself behind the large boulder. He didn't even spare a glance at the wild boar king standing not far in front of the den entrance.

What was Zhang Yang planning to do?

He was going to use this boulder to completely block the entrance of the wolf den.

Right now, with a thousand jin of strength, he believed he could move this rock.

And the facts proved he was right. Lifting it completely was impossible, but pushing it over? That wasn't too difficult.

Zhang Yang braced his front paws against the boulder, pushed hard with his hind legs. The rock trembled and began to tilt.

The wild boar king wasn't happy about this at all.

This wolf wasn't even taking him seriously!

I'll crash you!

Led by the boar king, the two wild boars that always stayed by his side charged together toward Zhang Yang. They didn't want his plan to succeed.

Zhang Yang frowned.

If he dodged, he would be hit.

If he didn't dodge, he'd get rammed.

But if he dodged now, he wouldn't get another chance to topple the boulder — even more boars were arriving from behind.

"All or nothing."

Zhang Yang actually didn't have many choices. He couldn't abandon the jungle wolves inside the den — so he had to gamble.

The boar king arrived. Tusks gleaming, eyes wild with rage. He saw that Zhang Yang wasn't dodging, and he could already picture the scene of this wolf being sent flying by his charge.

So exciting, right?

But right at the moment of impact—

Zhang Yang's hind legs suddenly left the ground. Just like a horse kicking backward, both paws slammed into the side of the boar king's cheek.

Horse treads flying swallow?

No — Wolf treads stupid pig.

Very fitting.

The boar king didn't care about appearances. He only cared about how clever he had been.

He had attacked from the side on purpose — this way he wouldn't accidentally help push the boulder for Zhang Yang.

He mentally gave himself a thumbs-up.

But even though he had been cautious, he still ended up helping.

The momentum he carried was enormous.

Combined with Zhang Yang's powerful double kick, the already unstable boulder suddenly toppled forward with force.

With a loud boom, the massive rock firmly sealed the entrance of the den.

"Hmph! You can't save them, and you can't save yourself either."

The boar king, who had just taken a kick to the head, wasn't angry at all. Instead, he looked extremely smug.

So what if you blocked the den with a rock?

Sure, he had taken a kick just now, but his tusk had also sliced open a gash on Zhang Yang's hind leg.

Now, even running away was impossible.

Once they dealt with Zhang Yang, moving this rock would be child's play. Then not a single wolf inside the den would escape.

"System, use Primary Poison."

Run? That doesn't exist.

Zhang Yang had never intended to run from the beginning.

He used the Primary Poison he had exchanged for earlier but hadn't been willing to use until now.

The Primary Poison in his inventory disappeared.

The next moment, Zhang Yang's perfectly fine claws were stained with a faint green — the green that represented deadly toxin.
