I slammed both of my palms over my face to hide the sheer embarrassment, my muffled protests only causing Selene to cackle with pure, unadulterated amusement.
She shook her head, her laughter finally bubbling down into a warm hum as she walked back over and sat directly beside me on the edge of the cushion. She gently nudged my shoulder. "Oh, Irene, you are so cute when you are flustered. I never get to see this side of you."
