Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: I Can't Take It Anymore

Lin Jingjing saw the worry on her face and reached out to ruffle her fluffy short hair. A smile appeared on her own pale face.

"It's nothing serious. I feel much better after drinking that Recovery Potion," Lin Jingjing said reassuringly.

After comforting her, Lin Jingjing looked at her and asked, "Feng He, what's your position here?"

Feng He wiped her tears. At Lin Jingjing's question, a pitiful look crossed her face. She looked at Lin Jingjing and said, "I'm an assistant. To be precise, I just run errands for people."

When she had signed up, the staff member heard she knew some medicine and told her to report to the medical corps. But she had been here for half a month now.

These people wouldn't even teach her how to identify the simplest Recovery Potions, or how to use the equipment by the hospital beds. She had to figure it all out on her own.

On top of that, the medics dumped all the dirty, exhausting work on her. She had been here for half a month, working herself to the bone every single day.

Not only that, but she had to endure their constant mockery and sarcasm, and she couldn't even complain.

Sometimes they even cornered her in the bathroom and bullied her.

Even though it had only been half a month, Feng He felt like she was at her breaking point.

'This is workplace bullying!'

Thinking of all this, Feng He couldn't stop the tears from falling again.

She felt truly wronged. In her past life, she had been an excellent surgeon.

She had performed countless operations as the lead surgeon, snatching many patients from the jaws of death.

'How did I end up so miserable after transmigrating?'

"Sister Lin, I can't take it anymore," Feng He said, looking at the two of them as she cried.

Seeing Feng He cry, the other two immediately panicked.

'The quiet, reserved, and resilient girl is actually crying. She must have had a terrible time recently.'

"Sister Lin is here. Don't cry," Lin Jingjing said, ignoring her own pain as she quickly sat up and hugged Feng He to comfort her.

She held the frail Feng He, gently patting her on the back again and again.

"Come join our kitchen squad. No one will bully you there," Lin Jingjing said.

Shi Feng, who was standing beside them, chimed in, "That's right. No one will bully you."

After speaking, he scratched his dry hair and added with a chuckle, "But it'll be exhausting."

"Can you handle it?"

Leaning against Lin Jingjing's chest, Feng He sniffled and said, "As long as I can be with you guys, I'm not afraid of how hard or tiring it is."

Lin Jingjing raised a hand and gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.

It was just like back in the military district compound, when Lin Jingjing would comfort her with the same gentle care whenever she cried.

"Feng He, what's taking you so long just to deliver some food? Don't you know there's a mountain of work waiting for you?"

A woman's voice rang out from outside the door. It was loud, sharp, and grating—the kind of voice that made you want to cover your ears.

Hearing that voice, Feng He's body trembled instinctively.

She hurriedly got up from the hospital bed, sniffled, and wiped away her tears.

"They're calling me. I have to get back to work." As Feng He spoke, she handed over the Nutrient Liquid that had fallen on the bed, then bent down to pick up the bottle that had dropped to the floor.

"Hurry up and drink this so you don't go hungry." With that, she immediately ran out of the room.

The two of them watched her reaction. They exchanged a look, and Shi Feng stood up. "I'm going to find Captain Li."

From their interactions these past few days, he had come to understand that although Captain Li's large build was rather intimidating, he was actually a decent person at heart. At the very least, he wouldn't bully them just because of their low rank.

It was just that the amount of work they had to do every day was insane.

They were so exhausted they had absolutely no time for idle thoughts; the intensity of the work was just on another level.

"Okay," Lin Jingjing nodded.

Shi Feng left the hospital room and ran toward the logistics department. He ran very fast.

But when he reached the logistics department office, Shi Feng suddenly lost his nerve. He stood before the door, swallowing hard, his raised hand hesitating, not daring to knock.

His heart was pounding, beating rapidly.

The sixth-floor hallway was silent, and Shi Feng could clearly hear his own heartbeat.

Shi Feng gritted his teeth. 'For my friend, I have to do this!'

'Even if I get yelled at or beaten half to death, it'll be worth it.'

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—

As the sound of knocking echoed, Shi Feng's heart leaped into his throat.

He swallowed again and waited for a response.

An irascible voice immediately boomed from within. "Stop dawdling out there! Get in here!"

Shi Feng breathed a sigh of relief and opened the door to enter.

The office was simple. Next to a large desk stood a bookshelf that reached the ceiling. In the remaining space, Captain Li had also set up a chair and a coffee table.

The office was decorated in a warm color scheme, a style that didn't suit him at all.

Captain Li was leaning back in his chair with his legs propped up on the desk. A blue screen glowed in front of him.

He was holding a black Controller in both hands, and it was surprisingly connected to his temples.

Since arriving in this world, Shi Feng had been so busy with work every day that he'd had absolutely no extra time to learn about such things.

Seeing him like this, Shi Feng was a little curious but didn't dare to ask.

Captain Li didn't even bother to look up, his hands constantly moving.

"What is it?"

Startled by the question, Shi Feng took a deep breath, looked at him, and said very seriously, "Captain Li, I have a friend who wants to join our logistics department."

"Mm. What's her Spiritual Power Level?"

Shi Feng felt a pang of regret when he heard that. He had forgotten to ask Feng He for her Spiritual Power Level.

But based on what she had said, Shi Feng pursed his lips and said cautiously, "It should be Grade D."

"Fuck!" Captain Li cursed, slamming his fist on the desk. "Ambushes me, the shameless bastards!"

After his outburst, he glanced at Shi Feng and saw him standing there with his head shrunk down, his eyes filled with fear.

"What are you cowering for? I'm not gonna hit you," Captain Li snapped.

Shi Feng looked at his ferocious expression, then glanced at the newly formed crack in the desk.

'He cracked the desk with a single punch. How could I not be scared?'

"What's her Spiritual Power Level?" Captain Li asked again.

"Grade D..."

"Get out—" Captain Li exploded. "Do you really think my logistics department is a garbage dump?"

"I already took in you two Grade Ds, and now you want to drag another one in?"

Shi Feng shrank his neck, looking like a quail.

But the words that came out of his mouth were enough to make Captain Li see red: "You already took the two of us. Taking one more won't make a difference to you."

"Get out—"

Shi Feng was yelled out of the office. He stood outside, staring at the closed door, and let out a deep sigh.

Back in the hospital room, Shi Feng looked at Lin Jingjing and shook his head. "I got yelled out."

Lin Jingjing nodded. She knew Captain Li wouldn't give in so easily.

"What was he doing when you went to his office?" Lin Jingjing asked.

Shi Feng thought for a moment, then said, "He seemed to be playing a game."

"Was he winning or losing?"

"Losing."

'He was throwing a fit and even cracked the table.'

Lin Jingjing thought for a moment, then threw back the covers and got out of bed. "I'll go talk to him."
