The moment she finished speaking, her eyes met Alaric Davenport's. His flickered with a complex mix of emotions he was desperately trying to suppress, yet there was also a hint of relief...
Rosalind Lowell ran out. An emotional Alaric Davenport rushed forward and pulled her into a fierce embrace. "Alaric..."
"You're back..."
Overwhelmed with longing, tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry..."
"It's not your fault."
Rosalind Lowell composed herself and reached out, stroking his stubble and then the dark circles under his eyes. He looked so haggard.
"You haven't been resting properly."
"Mmm..." he hummed softly, pulling her back into his arms and kissing her, as if terrified of losing her all over again.
"Where did you go? I couldn't find you anywhere." His voice was filled with a childlike grievance.
Rosalind Lowell pursed her lips. "I was kidnapped by the same group from before. But someone in there didn't mistreat me, and they let me go today."
