"No, that won't work. A gun is still too dangerous for you," he said, holstering the weapon. "I just gave it a quick test and found it's still flawed. I'll take it back and have it modified."
Seeing Alaric give him an out, and with the reminder about the police, Dylan Davenport decided this wasn't the time for a direct confrontation. He made an excuse and left.
Once he was gone, the two of them breathed a sigh of relief. "You're absolutely reckless. You nearly scared me to death."
"Well, in that case, you can't go dying of a broken heart for me. We still have two children, you know."
Alaric took her hand and placed it on his solid chest. "Feel that."
She could feel his heart pounding violently.
"What are you doing here at a time like this?" Alaric asked.
"Is it really okay to just let him go like that?"
"Of course not." Alaric patted her on the shoulder. "My people are already on it. Do you think I need to handle something like this personally?"
