"You didn't just come to check if I'd completed my mission, did you?" Rosalind Lowell pouted, pretending to be upset.
"Am I that heartless in your eyes?"
"Then aren't you afraid of getting photographed? What if tomorrow's headline is 'Helmsman of the Davenport Empire Falls for a Beauty, Keeps Starlet as Mistress'? Or 'Rosalind Lowell's Rise to Fame—Bankrolled by Her Big Boss'?"
Alaric Davenport pinched her nose. "Couldn't it be 'Doting Mr. Davenport Personally Picks Up His Beloved Wife'?"
"You've absolutely nailed that headline," Rosalind laughed.
"Well, you know the Davenport Group is in all sorts of industries. Grabbing a headline is easy. If my dear wife gives the order, we'll be on the front page right away. We could even stay there for a week or two."
