It couldn't be aimed at us, could it? Her old life had been bleak because of the people in it, but she'd never felt so close to the real-life danger of bombs and gunfire.
"Is it the place on Westcross Road?" Rosalind asked.
The old woman nodded. "Our car is stuck. It'll be a while before the tow truck arrives. Could you give us a ride to the hospital?"
Their own car was heading toward the residential villas, so it wasn't on the way. 'But then again,' she thought, 'like the couple said, there probably aren't any other cars on the road right now.'
Rosalind pursed her lips. 'Truthfully, our Little Kenyon is still running a fever. I should be rushing back to check on him.'
But Little Kenyon had the family doctor and a nanny with him, and it was normal for children to get sick now and then. This elderly couple's child, on the other hand, was in the hospital, their life hanging in the balance. Seeing their bloodshot eyes, she couldn't help but feel a wave of sympathy.
