"It's not your child, so what are you getting so worked up about?" The voice from the megaphone echoed in the quiet surroundings.
"It is my child," Rosalind Lowell shouted back.
"Your child? But I want Alaric Davenport himself to come, not his wife, the mother of his child."
"Having me is a greater threat to him." Rosalind looked toward the spotlight, her voice soft but tinged with resilience.
"So?"
"Give me my child. I'll take his place."
Both the voice on the other end of the phone and Skylar Morrison said at the same time, "You can't!"
Rosalind glanced at the phone in Skylar Morrison's hand and whispered, "You'll get me out, right?"
The other end of the call was silent.
"I'll go!" Skylar Morrison said. "You hold the baby."
Then he looked toward the spotlight and shouted, "I'll make the exchange! I'm a Morrison. If the Morrison Family finds out I've been kidnapped, forget five hundred million—you could get a billion."
