Captain Payson nodded, his light blue eyes turning to Alaric Davenport. "Your wife is truly beautiful, Mr. Davenport. You two make a perfect couple."
Alaric Davenport nodded. "I'm the luckiest man alive to have her as my wife."
Payson smiled, taking an envelope from his pocket and handing it to Alaric Davenport. "Customs recently seized a batch of suspicious goods," he said. "I imagine they're connected to you in some way, Mr. Davenport."
Alaric Davenport took the envelope, opened it, and frowned.
Rosalind Lowell, curious, leaned closer. "You look so serious. What is it?"
"That group is trying to source goods domestically and smuggle them in by mixing them with legitimate shipments."
"Well, it's a good thing they were seized then, right?"
Alaric Davenport shook his head. "We've only caught them once. There are no guarantees it won't happen again."
