A sharp pain lanced through Bai Lian's heart at Su Yaoyao's words. He gazed at her resolute expression, a mix of helplessness and sorrow swirling within him.
He knew her well. Once Su Yaoyao made up her mind, she wouldn't be swayed. But the thought of being intimate with her in this out-of-control state filled him with terror and resistance.
Reg stood to one side, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His gaze darted between Su Yaoyao and Bai Lian, his emotions in turmoil.
Logic told him this might be the only way to save Bai Lian, but emotionally, he couldn't accept Su Yaoyao taking such a risk.
"Yaoyao, have you really thought this through? This is too dangerous." Reg's voice was low, laced with a barely perceptible tremor.
Su Yaoyao didn't look back, only nodding firmly. "I have. I can't just watch him die." With that, she walked slowly toward Bai Lian, each step heavy yet resolute.
