Lianne's heart couldn't help but sink. She shifted her gaze to the pinkish-purple evening clouds, her voice soft. "Does she live in the temple?"
"Yes," Seth Sinclair said, seeing her confusion. "She's staying in a courtyard in the rear garden for now."

Caden Lowell tossed the bamboo broom he was holding to a young monk and leisurely straightened the collar of his shirt. He was wearing a flamboyant patterned shirt that looked utterly out of place in the solemn ancient temple.
"Lianne, long time no see." Caden Lowell extended a hand to her in a gentlemanly manner, smiling. "Did you miss your brother Caden?"
Lianne reached out to shake Caden Lowell's hand, but before she could touch him, Seth Sinclair possessively pulled her hand back.
