"Understood, sir." The butler watched Byron Holt head upstairs before going out to greet Kai Sterling.
Kai Sterling had rushed here overnight, heading straight for the manor the moment his plane landed. His bespoke suit was wrinkled, his face was haggard, and his eyes were sunken. There were even a few new strands of white at his temples.
Ivy Holden placed a cup of hot cocoa into Kai Sterling's hands, saying with a mix of helplessness and concern, "Uncle, you're so bad at taking care of yourself. How can I not worry?"
"Ivy, you... how did you know about Giselle?" Kai Sterling asked, gripping Ivy Holden's hand.
"Uncle, I heard her talking to Byron Holt."
"You... You heard them?! How could you have possibly heard them? If you did, how could he have let you go?"
Ivy Holden had no way to explain her superhuman hearing. Fortunately, Jensen Morrison was there to add, "Mr. Sterling, Ian Rowan hacked into the manor's surveillance system the moment Ivy arrived."
