'He kept insisting all the auction proceeds would go to charity. Wasn't he afraid of this getting out? Afraid the media would do a follow-up story?'
Back at the hotel, Ivy Holden lay in the bathtub, carefully replaying the events in her mind. The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became that Byron Holt buying back the painting for such a high price was a trap. 'He must be doing this on purpose to pique my curiosity and lure me into his game.'
Her phone rang. Ivy Holden wiped her hands, picked up her phone, and answered the call.
"President Holden, I've sent people to investigate Leila Lane's illegal emigration. Are you sure she left the country that way?" Justin Jacobs's voice came through the phone.
