Telling a Slave Trader not to capture slaves sounded absurd, but it was a necessary condition if he was going to sell the Magic Potion through Remi. Otherwise, the consequences would eventually find their way to him!
Elves, after all, were a different matter. Though powerful, they were not unreasonable. They wouldn't lash out at him just for cooperating with a Slave Trader; it wasn't worth the trouble for them.
Ultimately, only the wealthy would—and could—buy Elf slaves. Therefore, the people most deeply entangled with these Slave Traders were the rich. Lashing out indiscriminately could easily bring even greater trouble upon themselves.
But the Witch Country was different. They were a bunch of genuine lunatics!
