Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Bone Jade Skeleton King

...

Lynch cast the spell again.

This time, the Mana consumption was clearly more severe, making him dizzy.

But the new Skeleton Soldier that crawled out of the summoning vortex made his eyes light up.

Yes, what a majestic Skeleton!

Its bones were no longer a ghastly white, but had a slight, pure, crystalline, jade-like texture.

More importantly, its skeleton was complete, its four limbs intact. The Bone Knife it carried was so pristine it looked like it had been meticulously polished from the thigh bone of a beautiful female Skeleton.

Finally, it wasn't a cripple.

That's right. The Skeletons he had summoned from the Netherworld in the past were never complete. It was like they came from an assembly line for defective products, specially supplied to Necromancer apprentices like him.

The more Lynch looked, the more satisfied he became, as if he were admiring a work of art.

"I sense the makings of a Legend in you. I shall name you... Bone Jade Skeleton King!"

Lynch bestowed the title upon it with great solemnity, then immediately commanded it to the breach in the wall to die.

The Bone Jade Skeleton King, carrying its pristine Bone Knife, scrambled up to the breach, full of valor and vigor.

The next moment, the Angel Sentinel appeared as expected and casually swung its sword down.

"CRACK!"

The sound of shattering bone rang out.

However, the Bone Jade Skeleton King didn't fall. It endured! It endured the Angel Sentinel's purifying strike!

Although its bones were cracked in multiple places and it was on the verge of collapse, it had ultimately held on.

'Worthy of the name, Bone Jade Skeleton King!'

Just as it raised its Bone Knife to counterattack, the Angel Sentinel delivered a second, effortless strike.

"CRACK!"

"CLATTER~~~"

The newly born Bone Jade Skeleton King turned into a pile of dry bones.

The future Legend, the Skeleton King, had fallen.

But, one had fallen, and there were thousands more to come.

Lynch cast the spell again, summoning another complete Skeleton with the same pure white bones and elegant posture.

He once again named it Bone Jade Skeleton King.

"CRACK~ CRACK~"

The Holy Sword flashed twice, and the new generation's Skeleton King fell once more.

This continued until he summoned the fourth Bone Jade. Lynch's mind swam, and a wave of fatigue, even more intense than the last, washed over him.

His Spiritual Power was depleted, his Mana exhausted.

"Alright, you're a lucky one."

Lynch shook his head, preparing to take this lucky Skeleton back and train it properly.

But just then, out of the corner of his eye, Lynch caught a glimpse of a black-clothed figure on the other side of the breach, also sneaking along the base of the wall.

His heart skipped a beat. He quickly pulled his Skeleton back into the shadows of a corner, peeking out to observe covertly.

He watched the person dash to the side of the breach in just a few steps. They first glanced doubtfully at the bone fragments on the ground but didn't pay them much mind, instead looking around.

After confirming no one was there, a fiery glint flashed in their eyes. They then hid in a corner, took out a whistle, and blew it.

The sound of the whistle was soft and drawn-out, like the whimpering of the night wind.

Before long, another figure tiptoed out from inside the breach. It was a nun in a silver-white habit, her figure graceful and alluring.

The figure by the wall leaned out halfway and beckoned to the nun.

The nun first looked around cautiously. Seeing nothing unusual, she crouched down and hurried over.

What followed was a scene of the two embracing and kissing, a passionate tryst of dry wood meeting a raging fire.

Lynch was dumbfounded.

'To stumble upon this kind of sordid affair in the middle of the night...'

Still, their affair had nothing to do with him. He, Lynch, wasn't some Holy Believer. Why should he meddle in their business?

Just as Lynch was about to leave quietly with his Bone Jade, a gust of wind suddenly carried over faint voices from the other side.

"Leon, be gentle... Don't be in such a rush, mmm~"

"Ibella, I've missed you to death, let me quickly~..."

The voice was low and urgent, deep and magnetic.

'Holy shit?'

Lynch stopped in his tracks and tilted his head.

'If I heard that correctly...'

The man having the affair was none other than Leon Hosley—a Holy Knight apprentice from the Holy Light Major at his very own Extraordinary Academy.

The name matched, and the voice was about right.

'It's definitely him.'

The reason Lynch remembered him so clearly was mainly because between them...

There was a grudge.

Lynch's transmigration was all thanks to this very Leon Hosley.

His predecessor had been severely beaten by him, which was the only reason Lynch got to take over. And that bastard had even come looking for trouble several times since, making him an insufferable nuisance.

That bunch from the Holy Light Major proclaimed themselves the orthodox of the academy, the future pillars of the nation. They had always treated the students from the Undead Major like evil spirits, beggars, and maggots.

They were always clamoring, "Make the filthy Necromancers get out of our noble academy and crawl back into their graves and gutters!" They treated targeting students of the Undead Major as a feat worth bragging about.

The Undead System was already small and weak, and the profession was naturally countered by Holy Light. Getting beaten up was a common occurrence.

The academy's upper echelons were also mostly controlled by instructors from the Holy Light System. They often turned a blind eye to it, at most issuing some hypocritical warnings, saying things like, "Extraordinary Professions have no hierarchy, and academy students should be united, caring, and positive..."

But that couldn't stop the people from the Holy Light Major from using "sparring" as an excuse to launch vicious attacks time and time again.

Lynch had personally seen several students from his own major leave the academy in despair, unable to endure the long-term bullying.

Heh heh~

Thinking of this, Lynch felt as if his feet had grown roots, unable to move a single step.

After a moment's thought, the corner of his mouth curled into a malicious smile.

'Oh, Bone Jade, the time has come for you to show your loyalty.'

Meanwhile, the gasps of the philandering couple grew more and more rapid, as if they were continually ascending to the peak of their lives.

'Are they at the crucial moment already?'

'Forget it.'

'Now's the time.'

Under Lynch's command, the Bone Jade Skeleton King he had originally planned to take back and carefully train immediately took off in a Lightness-infused mince, brandishing its Bone Knife as it dashed toward the breach.

"CLACK CLACK CLACK."

Its speed wasn't fast, but it charged relentlessly through the breach and into the compound.

Two or three meters away stood a water vat. The Bone Jade shattered it with a single slash of its knife. "CRASH!" The loud noise echoed as water gushed out.

But in the next instant, Holy Light flashed. The Angel Sentinel appeared out of thin air behind the Bone Jade and swung its sword down.

"CRACK."

The Bone Jade's entire skeleton fractured, but it held firm, staggering forward as it continued its charge.

It knocked over a storage rack and toppled an oil lamp. "CLANG! BANG! CRASH!" All sorts of noises rose one after another, completely shattering the tranquility of the night.

The Holy Light flashed again. "CRACK." The Bone Jade turned into a pile of dry bones.

But the loyal Bone Jade Skeleton King had completed its glorious and great mission.

Such a huge commotion naturally startled some of the sleeping nuns and half-asleep guards, who got up to check on the situation.

And at that moment, that pair of cheating dogs were still immersed in the ultimate afterglow, their minds a complete blank.

Stunned for a good while, they only separated as if electrocuted when they heard the faint sound of voices from inside the compound wall. They both scrambled to get dressed.

But would Lynch let them have their way?

The very instant the Bone Jade sacrificed itself, a new generation of the Bone Jade Skeleton King had already crawled out of the vortex.

It took off in a mince, launching a heroic charge toward the cheating couple.

At the same time, with a pained expression on his face, Lynch put away the empty bottle of his last Awakening Potion.

Feeling the intense dizziness and piercing pain in his brain, as well as the Mana that was now gushing forth like a spring, the smile on his lips grew even wider.

'Are six Gold Coins expensive?'

'Very.'

'But right now, it's well worth it.'
