Zone C was in the suburbs. It was a remote area, practically outside the city limits, and a relatively underdeveloped rural area.
The reason Sister Chen had a house there was because it was her old hometown.
Back when her grandfather was still alive, he had always treated all the younger generation equally.
Even though she was a daughter who had married out of the family, as long as her household registration hadn't been transferred, he still considered her family. He even worried that she might be mistreated by her in-laws in the future, so he specifically set aside a plot of land for her. He let her build a small two-story house there, giving her a place of her own to stay whenever she returned home.
