"Why?" Felix Preston cupped her face, forcing her to look at him. "Charlotte, why is there nothing we can do? Do you know something?"
Charlotte Shaw gazed into his eyes, the sorrow on her face slowly giving way to resignation.
"Yes," she answered honestly.
She had once promised Felix Preston that she would be completely honest with him, no matter what. Even knowing he didn't believe in things like transmigration or systems, she was still willing to tell him everything.
"What is it?" Felix Preston wiped the tears from her face. His voice was gentle, but to Charlotte Shaw's ears, it held a domineering quality that permitted no refusal.
"Charlotte, tell me. What is it that you know?"
Charlotte Shaw pressed her lips together and began, her voice choked with emotion, "Felix, Renee Sinclair... she..."
