In the courtyard in front of the villa, several tall, burly bodyguards had Felix Preston, dressed all in black, in a firm grip. Felix seemed defiant; though he was outnumbered, he continued to struggle desperately.
Until Charlotte Shaw called out to him.
"Felix Preston!"
Felix froze abruptly.
The sound of her voice was such a shock that he stood stunned for several seconds before whipping his head up to look in its direction.
And there was Charlotte Shaw, standing on the steps not far away, staring at him, dumbfounded.
He hadn't seen her for only half a month, yet Charlotte Shaw had lost a startling amount of weight. On such a cold night, she was only wearing a thin sweater and a pair of baggy pants, her feet bare, without even socks.
The biting wind whipped against her, looking as if it could blow her away at any moment.
