A faint scent of lemon clung to Jasper Shaw.
Chloe Sinclair was taken aback by his actions. She froze for a second before gently patting his back. "What's wrong?"
Jasper's voice was muffled. "I missed you."
Chloe didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "But we just saw each other a little while ago, didn't we?"
Jasper didn't say anything.
He pulled away and asked cautiously, "Did Wyatt Thorne give you a hard time?"
Chloe smiled, a hint of disdain in her eyes. "You really think he could hurt me?"
'With Wyatt's current capabilities, he's no match for me at all.'
Jasper stood to the side, watching her.
'Her proud gaze is actually pretty cute.'
"Yeah, of course he's not."
Suddenly, a thought struck Chloe. Her brow furrowed, a hint of anxiety in her eyes. "You'd better keep those files of yours safe. Today…"
Chloe trailed off, glancing around.
There was no one else around, but Chloe still felt uneasy.
"Eight, scan the area for any surveillance systems."
