In truth, she didn't like cooking one bit. She thought it was far too much trouble.
Yet now, Shirley Thorne wanted her to cook both lunch and dinner. It was practically a death sentence.
Before she could refuse, Shirley Thorne set her chopsticks down across her bowl and said earnestly, "It's settled, then. I'll have Auntie Langley help you!"
With that, she got up and headed straight for the art studio, giving Susan Langley no chance to object.
Susan Langley was so furious she could barely maintain her benevolent motherly facade. 'The plan is what's important,' she chanted internally, reminding herself not to break character.
'It's just cooking, right?'
