The moment Shirley Thorne entered the room, she saw Meredith Rowan sipping tea, her posture the very picture of elegance and grace.
'Who would have thought such a beautiful woman could be a mistress?'
"Shirley, you're here. Come, sit."
Meredith Rowan stood to welcome her. After making sure no one else had followed, she shut the door tightly and guided Shirley to the main seat at the center of the table.
"How have you been feeling lately? Are you pregnant yet?"
Shirley Thorne shook her head honestly. "No."
"You and Ethan are still young. There's no rush."
Meredith Rowan said casually, patting Shirley's shoulder in a gesture of intimacy.
"Aunt Rowan, actually, I..."
Shirley Thorne placed a hand on her stomach, her brows knitted tightly. A flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes before she finally said, "Never mind. Let's order first!"
