Initially, when Susan Langley heard Warren say he wasn't there for her, she was heartbroken. She thought he was so thoroughly disappointed in her that he couldn't even be bothered to berate her anymore.

Shirley Thorne said nonchalantly, "Oh, it's nothing. My mother-in-law was just organizing her assets recently and transferred a portion to my husband."
She deliberately kept her explanation simple and casual, like they were just chatting about family matters. That way, if word got out, she wouldn't have to worry about people online misunderstanding.
