Florence Langley turned to look at Shirley, confused. "Ma'am, you..."
"I'm fine!"
Shirley Thorne tore her eyes away from the handsome face on the screen and said seriously, "Mr. Grant, I'm perfectly fine. You don't need to worry."
Silence hung on the other end for a few seconds, followed by a crisp, "Mm."
Shirley Thorne secretly peeked at him through the screen. She saw him let out a faint sigh of relief before his expression returned to its usual, unapproachable aloofness, as if that brief display of ordinary emotion had been nothing but an illusion.
'Was Mr. Grant worried about me?'
'Probably not, right?'
'He knows how capable Florence is.'
'So what if the signal was lost?'
'They were bound to get back in touch!'
With that, Shirley Thorne decided to forget what she'd just seen. She must have been mistaken.
"Mr. Grant, I'm fine. I just don't know what those people are trying to do now!"
'They can't be planning to keep me locked up here indefinitely, can they?'
