Chapter 4 - 4

Taking a step, I found myself on a small platform, about ten metres in diameter, made of black stone or metal, surrounded by four arches three metres high and two metres wide, made entirely of the same "stone". It felt warm and velvety to the touch. Behind me was an identical archway, shrouded in a silver haze, through which I could see the outline of my room on Tisova Street. All around me was a starry sky, but it wasn't dark on the platform.

"Jarvis, where am I and how can I get back?"

...You are on a teleportation platform. The archway you are standing in is a universal entrance to this space, and you can return by passing through this haze...

"What if something happens to the door?"

...In that case, you will find yourself in a safe place, as close to the door as possible...

"What about the other arches?"

...You can permanently attach them to houses that are in your possession...

Not bad, let's see what else is here. One edge of the platform was connected to another, about fifty metres in diameter, and very different from the one where I was standing. It was covered with beautiful green grass, there were a couple of apple trees, a small pond, tiled paths and, of course, a small house in some kind of high-tech style, which looked more like several connected white cubes with huge windows and doors.

As soon as I crossed the line connecting the platforms, the landscape around me changed. More precisely, the content did not change, but instead of a starry sky, I saw the usual earthly blue sky, the sun and small clouds of funny shapes floating by. Walking along the path to the house, I entered through a glass door. The house was decorated in black and white. On the first floor, there was an entrance hall with a cupboard and a coat rack. Turning right, I entered the dining room with a large dark wooden table, which had a glass insert in the middle like a lightning bolt, but it was most likely epoxy. The chairs were ordinary wooden ones with white upholstery. Moving forward a little, I came to the kitchen, where there was a table with a sink in the middle and a set of cabinets on either side with all the necessary appliances, which worked in an incomprehensible way, and it was impossible to check if there was electricity, as it was built-in. Next was a pantry, which unfortunately turned out to be empty. On the other side of the house, I found a living room with a huge sofa and a plasma TV connected to some kind of centre which, judging by the number of holes and buttons, could accept any type of data storage device, be it a music cassette or a compact disc. Next was a study with a computer, a nice desk and chair, and a bedroom with a huge bed behind the next door. Not a bad country house I got.

Okay, time to start testing. First, I need to try the simplest Potter spells, namely Lumos and the famous Wingardium Leviosa. I can cast spells without any incantations, but it will be easier with them. I imagine a glowing ball lighting up in my hand, point my hand forward, away from my face, just in case, and say the spell.

"Lumos."

...Error... The user cannot create a skill and use this type of magic...

"Excuse me, WHAT?!"

...Sending a package of information about the magic of this world...

...Unpacking in progress...

...Passive skill "Magic is a science" level 1 obtained...

"Magic is a science" level 1 (you not only feel magic, but also understand how it works)

Hmm... From the information that popped into my head at that moment, a not-so-happy picture was forming. I ended up in a version of Potteriana (yes, yes, don't be surprised, there is more than one world, and they are all different enough to be considered separate worlds) where some time ago problems with magic and its control began, the causes of which are unknown to the system. To remedy the situation, the ancient magicians invented "crutches" and began to use tiny particles of their souls as a kind of control superstructure that allowed mana to take the necessary form. The particles were small enough to be easily replenished by the body's reserves. And that is precisely why magicians use wands and activating words to make it easier to "program" a particle of their soul. And this is where the main problem lies. The system will not allow me to break away from a piece of my soul, so I have to look for other ways to learn magic, because I cannot do it on my own... no matter how well I understand magic and feel it, it is useless. I need a teacher... and not just any teacher... There is, of course, a huge advantage: the magic of this world cannot affect me, because I will automatically absorb a piece of my soul with my skill, and the system will constantly pump mana from the surrounding world when my reserve decreases, so any spell directed at me will only be beneficial. However, this does not negate the fact that someone could simply hit me over the head with a rock...

"Jarvis, what should I do about this?"

...Options for solving the problem...

... One Punch Man — pump up my physical characteristics to superhuman levels...

... Einstein - study science and use technology...

... Lucky Guy - use the summoning scroll...

We live happily, Dumbigad and Voldi are unlikely to leave me alone just like that, so I need protection. The first two options are out of the question as they require a lot of time, but I like the third option. It's unlikely that I'll end up in a world with such crutches, at least I hope so. Just as I thought about the book, the same worn-out little book appeared in my hand. But first, I have to do something else. The book disappeared and in its place appeared a clay tablet with cuneiform writing. Strange, why didn't I look at what the "Divine Language" was last time?

...Would you like to use the item?"

"Yes"

... The skill "Divine Language" has been acquired...

With this, I'll be able to quickly find a common language with the locals. So we can go.

...Would you like to use the item?...

"Yes"

... Level 1 Summon skill acquired ...

... Transfer to a random world with the ability to use the skill "Summon" is in progress ...

Something flashed before my eyes, and then I found myself in a huge cave with strange drawings on the walls and floor. It wasn't dark, as the entire cave was covered with shiny white stones. They were black stripes, circles, and curved lines connected in a random pattern. Perhaps they were symbols and some kind of text was written there.

... Created skill ";?№;?*"(№)%)? language ur.1 " ...

"Um... Jarvis, what does this mean? I studied the divine language."

...This language is not listed in the "Divine Language" skill. This could mean either that the gods do not observe this world, or that the language is older than all the gods currently living...

Where am I then? But judging by the description in the book with the call, the place is safe, but it is unknown whether the local inhabitants are dangerous... Well, maybe I'll collect these stones, they might be useful, I took one stone in my hand. I began to examine the stone, trying to understand what it could be.

...Skill "Appraisal Level 1" created...

Small Moonstone" - additional information will be revealed when the "Appraisal" skill is levelled up

Then I heard some kind of indistinct song, turned around and saw a small pink, almost round creature with huge eyes. It reminded me of something. The creature also noticed me and, seeing the stone in my hand, began to make sounds that formed words in my head.

"IT WANTS TO STEAL OUR CHARM!!!

The creature turned and ran towards the cave exit, continuing to squeak. I started chasing after it and trying to explain that it was a mistake, but it wouldn't listen. Then I saw light at the end of the "tunnel," and as soon as I stepped out of the cave and the sun blinded me, I felt like I couldn't move, like something was holding me back.

"WHO ARE YOU?" a voice rang in my head.
